Title: No Bodywork
Post by: cornercamping on March 30, 2004, 01:58:03 PM
I can't believe this crap.  NOBODY has bodywork available for a 2004 GSXR 600.  I've called:

Godfather Racing
Sharkskinz
Hotbodies
LP USA

And NOBODY has bodywork for 4 weeks    >:(  WTF  ???  How am I gonna race then  :'(

Quotesome has to have them if the AMA boys are running 04s

I mean they make them, but they don't have any available for 4 weeks. Everyone is either backordered, has waiting lists, ect.   :'(

NOTICE TO CCS TECH INSPECTORS:

Not my fault that their aren't any track fairings  :'(  So, when I show up at Jennings, with a botched street fairing/zip tie/duct tape set up, don't say NO !   I'm driving 1,500 miles to come race Jennings.  Don't make me turn around and go home without racing first  :'(  :'( :'( :'( :'( ;D

Why not just order 03 GSXR1K bodywork? Same plastic design. ;D

Yeah, that's what I thought... but.. I'm not gonna spend all day trying to fabricate track fairings.  It'd be the same as fabricating the stockers.  The 03'  1000 stuff isn't the same according to sharkskinz  :(

Damnit, I was gonna Ebay the stockers in mint condition and get top $ for them, but knowing my luck.. I"ll bet $100.00 I crash at Jennings and ruin them  >:(  :'(

Get some cheap crappy stuff that will probably fit, and then sell it later?

But from what I've been told about the GSXRs now, the 600, 750 and 1000 use the same body parts. Other than decals they are the same.

The 1000 stuff is pretty close, but the tail is way different. The frame is 25mm narrower on the 600 than the 1000.

I am modding the 1000 stuff to fit, then replacing it when the 600 stuff is availible to us...

YOu may want to try the guys at Speedfiber USA. I thought they said ti was only 2 weeks out...

I already have:

Woodcraft Clipon's, Woodcraft Case Covers, Woodcraft Rearsets, and Woodcraft Sliders.

Yosh exhaust is on order, and I should have it tomorrow morning.  I also can't find a fairing stay.  Everyone is sold out, or back ordered for a month.

Corner, are you coming to Road A?

I see Eric wood is now selling sliders, but they are $68!?  :o

Aluminum bases, I'm NOT a fan of. More on that some other time.  >:( :-X

Anyway, I was going to say that I'd give you a free pair of sliders in return for letting me take measurements off of your bike if you're gonna be at Road America. That way you'd have spares!

QuoteI'm not seeing them listed on their site.

All I know is I had my bike over at IRP last Saturday, and they took measurements, and installed sliders on my bike all the way around.  They should have them in stock...  I'd call them and order up..

as for not being on their site..   Jeff probably hasn't updated the site yet.

Heres the  heads up...

The GSXR stuff fits on with no mods to the front, but the tail really doesnt work very well...

All the chassis parts ie Damper, rearsets, sliders, clipons, upper fairing stay, etc, all work from the 03 gsxr 1000.

Good luck

What I've got so far for the new ride:

Woodcraft Clip On's
Woodcraft Sliders
Woodcraft Case Covers
Woodcraft Rearsets
Ohlins Rear Shock
Ohlins Damper
Ohlins Fork Kit (supersport)
Powercommander
Graves Fairing Stay
Michelin Slicks  ;D

On order/backordered/in-route:

Yosh Tri-Oval Full Titanium Race System
Numbers/Number Plate Backround (thanks to Stumpy)

Still trying to find:

Friggin' Track Fairings  >:(
Braided Brake Lines  ???  Haven't looked too much though.

Post by: cornercamping on April 02, 2004, 05:07:37 PM
I'm almost ready.  Just need friggin track fairings, brake lines, and waiting on the exhaust.  Almost done with the heat cycles, and I have her saftey wired to CCS spec., but I'm gonna go ahead since I have to wait for track fairings anyways and wire the whole thing to WERA's stupid specs.  Have nothing better to do while I wait for fairings  :(  I'm not  gonna do the 1000 front and sides and then sit around and wait for a tail.  They're gonna go the painter all at the same time  :)

A few plastic number plates tip-zied in the proper locations and some sort of bellypan (find a friend with a rashed lower, cut the top off, and a few bracks made out of bent aluminum strips) and you'll be good to go.  It's not worth missing a race (especially if you care about points) just because you don't have a fairing.

Yeah, but the race wasn't in my region anyways. Just wanna knock the dust off the leathers where it won't cost me points.
