Title: helmet #'s/rules--semi-spam
Post by: fzr400tony on March 28, 2004, 02:21:47 PM
I was reading through the CCS rulebook and I noticed a rule that says that we need to have our # on the side of our helmets.

Am I the only one that didn't know that it was a rule?  I never noticed anyone with #'s on their helmets.  I saw a few people using duct tape and pens to do the same thing (looks crappy), but never enough to think it was a rule.  I guess that why CCS sends it out nearly every year.

Anyway, my friend owns www.drippinwet.com and I asked him about making stickers for my helmet.  This is what he did for me.  He said he'd charge like $2.00 a set for them (your # and style prefference).  they're really nice.  he also did the little "Arai" stickers on my visor (don't know how much they cost).

anyway, if you want them, e-mail him at kruzel@drippinwet.com put "From Your Website" in the subject line.

It's on the sides?  I thought we just had to have our number on the back using a small sticker.  Something like a small dot.   ???    Damn, if I crash that bad that they need numbers on the sides of my helmet, then chances are you'll be decapitated anyways  :P

5.1 RIDER EQUIPMENT
5.1.1 ....
A. It is required that all riders put their competition number on the chin bar or side of their helmets to aid in identification should the rider be involved in a multi-bike incident.

They don't want the number on the back of your helmet in the case that you suffer a neck injury.

We just want the number onthere incase you are decapitated.  Due to liability these days, we would not want to return the head to the wrong racer!

Oh come on now!  If several riders don't get up after a crash, it's impossible to tell who flew off which bike.  For notification and medical purposes, CCS needs to attach the correct name to each rider, even if they are knocked out.  That's what the stickers are for.  So can the drama already!

I e-mailed the guy who did the poster's numbers looking for some numbers of my own.  He hasn't gotten back to me so he's either overworked or not interested in working.

Just an FYI.

he's overworked.  plus, his spam killer works over-time it may have nabbed you by mistake.  i know when i went to his house to get the stickers he had like 300 e-mails of people asking him about stickers.  he does good work and he's cheap.  try putting "from your website" in the subject line of your e-mail.

i'll send him a link here as well.

chris--what's happenin'?

did you get the new ducati ready?  750 or 900ss?

i'll be in ult-lw-sb this year and gt-l's.  my 400 is in less than race-condition.  i'm mid-way through it, plus i'm getting my gsxr back to streetable condition so i can sell it.  but i'll racing that thing forever i think.  i'd love to have a 996sps or something, but at the end of the day, i'll never be good and the 400 is fun.  maybe i'll get an sv or air-cooled ducati, but that's a ways off (unless the powerball comes my way, but since i don't play the lottery, it's not lookin' good).

i won't be at summit until the may 20-something date.  i still need gearing for the 400 and i'd like to get it more of one or two colors instead of the 4 or 5 it is.  so lots of wet sanding and making it nice.  and i'm gonna have a normal belly pan on it (modified/dremeled r1 lower).

plus, i'm mounting up my f2 rear wheel.

i'm on the phone with him right now, he asked that you re-e-mail him, he thinks your e-mail got deleted.  and he can't find it in his deleted folder.

if you're the vir guy he read it, but it's gone now.  he is very upset that this happened.  he sends apologies.
