I just spoke with Spencer. Spencer was the guy the hellicopter took out of BHF on sunday afternoon.
He's in good shape. A couple of broker ribs. He'll be going home the next day or so.
Just letting you know.

THANX, you know we all care.....
and if he gets this, he knows we do, if he's not online, tell him....
Yea........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate helecopters, but I am glad we have them when we need them. Pass along our best wishes.
Paul, Dawn & Renee ;)
I am glad he is doing well since I heard the crash was real nasty looking. I heard that he hit the wall head on and that this was his first race ever!
I am really glad to hear he is okay, Spencer and Pete seemed like such good people. I met them both 2 weeks ago in race class.
I know all his friends and family were worried.
Best wishes from John and me, too. He had just taken the school the day before, right?
Glad to hear he is ok!
If an ambulance ride across the river costs $600 in St. Louis, I wonder how much it costs to take a ride on the bird?
Thanks to everyone thats posted about, read, or just been interested in Spencer's condition.
Rockford Memorial is going to release him Thursday, at which point I'll have to inform him that his suit has been cut in half and that we forgot to account for helicopter rides in the team budget.
We were obviously all worried but it looks like things will turn out fine. We'll see everyone soon.
Thanks again,
Peter

hey peter, spencer.....
most all of us are financialy strapped, i think....
however i know that i am.
but if i were to see you guys 'passing a hat' around the paddock at gingerman
on the 28th/29th weekend, i'd be more than willing to pitch in!
honestly, it wont be much (cuz i aint got much) but i wont miss the chance to help...
and i am very GLAD to know that you're ok spencer, chin up!!
;) ;) ;)
and just so you know, that turn that you "got off" in IS a TUFF one!!!
im just now GETTING comfy there (6 months later) (note the getting)...
holla back...
Thank God that Spencer's injuries were limited to a few broken ribs. I hope he comes back and gives it another go. Hope to see you at the track again Spencer! :)
Ytak1... how are you recovering? Recovering from what you ask? From the royal ass whoopin I gave you in our race :P
What turn at BHF got Spencer?
3A to 4
Does Spencer have a number? Have I got a pic of him?
QuoteDoes Spencer have a number? Have I got a pic of him?
you missed him jack, he took school this sat. and that was his first race...
actually Jack.. he took class the weekend you were there... he didnt race the weekend he took school.
There were a bunch in the school on the 24th. Is he there? He'd be near the bottom in a thumbnail.

No big deal, just thought I'd send him an 8x10 or something, maybe pick up his spirits. If someone knows, e-mail me and let me know and where to send the pic.
But don't everyone get the idea that you get a free 8x10 for crashing. :)
Jack
Spencer did learning Curves on 8/24 at BHF, I think he ran #278 that weekend. Did you get any pictures this weekend?

THAT is a SHAME !!!!
:) Thank you all so much for the good words!! The good news is that I'm writing this from my house. Yes they released me from Rockford Mem this morning. I have 3 broken ribs and a collapsed lounge (which has since been reinflated) but it all should be ok in a couple of weeks. No long term problems, I'm just real sore and bruised up. Peter printed out this thread and brought in into the hospital the other night to show me and it really put a smile on my face. If I had a dollar for every time I had to listen a nurse tell me that motorcycle racing is "too dangerous" I prob could have paid for 1/2 the chopper ride ;D ok ok maybe 1/3. Anyways in all seriousness I've been trying to collect some of my thoughts of the whole weekend and my first experiences on the race track. I might sound weird saying this, but I really had a great weekend. Practice was a ton of fun, and just hanging out meeting people and soaking up the scene and the sun was a blast! The race could have turned out much better, but then again you know what, it could have turned out a heck of a lot worse. I'm just glad all my injuries will heal on their own and nothing is permanently damaged. I'm also glad knowone else was hurt. So at gingermen if you see a tall skinny guy in the stands with bandages on his ribs try not to make him laugh too much, because doc says it's going to hurt like hell for a few months :-[ :'( >:( ;D
Thanks again everyone!!!!
Sincerely
Spencer R. Huard
Glad to hear you're on the mend Spencer!!!
Spencer great to see you responding so soon!!! 8)
I took had a pretty bad crash my first race weekend (2nd race ever) also. Highsided and messed the bike up quite a bit, but only broke my foot in a couple of places and a finger. Plus a badly bruised back.
It is funny that you say it was a blast. I feel the same way, and can't wait to get back on the track!
Heal well, and have a great winter. Hope to see you at BHF next summer.
Regards,
Scott
BTW Jack, thanks for taking this great picture before my accident that weekend!

Scott - that you??? :D Sup man! I was planning on hitting Gateway in October, until last Thursday :( You going down to Daytona?
Spencer - sorry about your crash. Sounds like you messed yourself up pretty good! I feel bad whining about my toe now... (I lowsided at Rosno's in 4 on Thursday) Glad you're ok. One HELL of a first weekend for ya! Hope to see ya out there next year!

Thanks, I wish I was at Gateway right now.... I'm going to miss this weekend. :(
Spencer...
Glad that youre back on your feet so soon. I was afraid that the crash might have put a sour taste in your mouth about racing but apparently not. Next time you should pit closer to Matt, Wuytack, and myself for good luck :) See you at Gingerman!

ditto brian...
Glad to hear your okay Spencer,
When my Mech. meantioned "it was your friend from race school" my jaw just about hit the floor.
You made mention that you headed out to Gingerman at the end of the month? Well don't forget to stop by and say Hi.
Quote:) If I had a dollar for every time I had to listen a nurse tell me that motorcycle racing is "too dangerous" I prob could have paid for 1/2 the chopper ride ;D ok ok maybe 1/3.
Maybe I should start charging people that say that to me now, incase its me on the chopper the next time ;D
QuoteScott - that you??? :D Sup man! I was planning on hitting Gateway in October, until last Thursday :( You going down to Daytona?
Yep Jim, its me. How's the foot? Sorry to hear about the crash. :(
Yeah, I won't be there for the Oct race. I have to go to a wedding in SF. :(
Foot's doing ok. I have to go see a podiatrist next week, my doc thinks I may need a skin graft ( :o eeew) It hurts like hell if I walk around on it... but if I keep it iced and elevated, I'm ok. I feel like such a wimp sometimes ::)
The bike is pretty beat up... gonna need lots of TLC this winter to get her back into shape for next season. I took it all apart, now I gotta put a list together of everything it needs. In the meantime, I go hang out at the races to help out my buddies... I may be at Gateway afterall... and I'm going to Daytona to watch mike227 take a national championship or two :)
Xian thanks a ton man for all of your help!!! ;) Yeah the plan is to still head up to gingermen then down to indy for the F1 race. My friends said you were a big help loading up my gear and crashed bike! I'll have a cold beer waiting for you after your race.
I think you said your going to F1 too, email me at huardsp@aol.com if you want to carpool or just meet up.
