Title: Newbie here...HOLD MY HAND!
Post by: Clay on March 08, 2004, 08:43:00 AM
Ok guys and gals, I could use some help here.

I've now got my lovely cert from the Martinelli school, so I'm ready to race!  So what now???

First, I assume the only classes I can run my 929 in is Supersport unlim, GP unlim and GTO?  If not, what other classes?

Ok, so there's so many stinkin' forms on the website...what do I have to do to preregister?  I know, gotta get my license first...but after that.

Third, where's the whole list of contingency sponsors?  How do I get all the stickers, patches and what has to be done, filled out and handed over to whom...when and where.

Fourth, Greg Melka, I've volunteered you to hold my hand at the first race at Jennings in a few weeks.  LOL

I know it's alot of questions, but I really appreciate all the help and time anyone will put in for me on this.  THANK YOU!  I just goto the docs pages and there's so many, all sounding like something I should be doing...and of course half the docs have an invalid link.   :-/

1. you are correct, ULSS, ULGP, GTO

2. Use the pre-reg Online feature. It is not a form to print out, it is a web form you fill out

3. Go to the form section and down load the PDF file for CCS contigency sponsors, or if they have it, 2004 CCS contigency tech form. On page 2-3 there are listings and requirements. Stickters may be available at tech, but people take them, and they don't get another shipment, so you may want to contact the manufacturers directly to get a few extras

I am just pointing you in the right directions, perhaps I don't need to hold your had? :D :p

online reg:

https://ourshop.merchanthost.net/ccs/pre-enter.html

contigency form is not up apparently, so use this as a guide:

http://www.formulausa.com/contingency/ccsawards217a.pdf

they are missing a few, namely Pirelli. They pay down to 5th this year I think.

Ok, so how much will those three races cost me?

I also heard that CCS doesn't pay money for wins anymore, but instead they give vouchers... is that true?  :-/

Ok, so what is a twin sprint event?  I assume double points is pretty obvious...you get twice the points that you'd normally get...?  Where is the sheet for points?

Race costs

All money classes (vouchers now) $70.00
Non-money
     1st $70
     2nd $50
     3rd and the rest $35

Twin Sprints is two full race schedules that weekend.  The 30 minute races are held on Friday or not at all.

Points are listed in the rule book that you can access on line or get one at the track.

I hope this helps.

Dawn   :)

Ok, so is GTOA and GPUA going to be purse paying?  So that's 70, 70 and 50 for GPUA, GTOA and SSUA?  When you say vouchers, does that mean the ONLY thing vouchers can go for is more race entry fees?

For the GT events, that's the 30 min race right?  GP and SS are both sprints...?

But it's not cash anymore...it's just "vouchers" right?   :-/  I'm still curious as to exactly what these vouchers are good for...?

ULGP is CASH
GTO/GTU/GTL is vouchers good for entry fees.

You have to take your cash purse check to get deposited into your bank account.

You can send the vouchers in the next day to sign up for future events. They are transferrable too.

Ok, I've looked thru every document I can find, and the only one that hints at what classes pay what is from 2003.  Are there any docs that show what the payout is for all the different classes?????

If not, then what's the payout for my 3 classes...GPUA, GTOA, and SSUA?

No payout in Unlimited Supersport.

Why so worried about payout?  The way to make a small fortune in racing is...to start with a large one.

I think that all "purse" classes are $70.  Then your first non purse class is $70.  So, for three classes, $210.

Dave has it been so long you forgot?  ;D Looking up the CCS purses is not to make a small fortune, we new racers just like the prestige of earning a small check :D

ULGP pays down to 10th place, and you get $65 for finishing 10th. You get a little check that you can frame it and put it on the wall. You get paid before you get wood!

I read the new racer pack back in 2000 and thought cool I can get $65 for finishing 5th in GTU. I didn't the whole first year I raced. But every race I still filled out my papers, contingency forms, everything. Then one day I got my check and got my wood. I kept my check until I got another one :) it was nice to have won something... even small.

Now I have a pile of firewood and no fire place hahaha

You know its interesting CCS doesn't put EX or AM on the plaques, I could just point to the wall and say I am a winning expert  :p

Can't wait til the VIR, I am going to earn myself some new wood!

LOL

Noooo, I have no images of making money here.  I'm just thinking about getting as MUCH help as possible to pay for this painfully expensive hobby.  So winning here and there to have some help will be a good blessing.

So where's the actual form for the payouts in each spot?

Dave, are you saying that winning in SS brings nothing???  Damn, that sux.  :-/
