Scott McNamara (?) was down there taking shots for fun as well.  I bought a CD of all his photos for 20 bucks, and he got some really great shots.  My teammate has his contact info, and he's staying in FL a few extra days so I can get you his contact info later - unless someone here knows him?  He was a racer at the ROC on the winning GTU TC bike.

Thanks greg but that was a little bit of an understatement.  I had surgery on my nose for a deviated septum and some other stuff Wednesday.  I have been highly wasted since then.  Do you know how hard it is to sort when you're on medication?  LOL.  I sent my computer to my brothers house and he is working on them.  Ok, time for more drugs

WTF?!?!?!?!  Out of 25 or so pages of photos and about 30 pics per page - there are 14 total pics of amateurs!!!! There can't be that many people interested in a pic of Steve Rapp (or Super Dave, in this case).  And I'm sure Rapp, himself, and ALL the other experts have ridden Daytona enough times to complain about how much they hate it - let alone care about buying a picture of themselves riding there - again.

Something tells me he's missing his target audience.  All the goofy little amateurs, like me, who were out at Daytona for the first time (first race, even!) and are collecting every damn picture of themselves they can find.  Too bad he didn't take any.

Or is it that we don't look fast enough to make the "best of" gallery?

Ok, now I never found this picture above.

How did that come up.  I only saw, like, some picture of the #1 guys and that was it.

Only one's I found were on the FUSA site...but I'm sure they want the top guys to be highlighted there.

Tell me more...

At least there could be a picture of me with my other leathers...

I am in agreement with you, Scuba.  I'd like a picture from Daytona, but I've been there enough.  I'm not buying a whole mess of them so that I can remember, potentially, a very special experience.

I will probably get flamed, but his pictures appear more artistic and IMH a little "better" than the rest. The equipment he uses, to me, makes a better photograph. I teach graphic designs and photo-editing classes at a college, and his photographs are shot to be close to the standards of photography FWIW.

I am not buying any photos for memories, I have lots of those taken by my friends, and they are way more memorable than what happens on the track, its the whole experience.

However, I buy on-track photographs for sponsors to use in their publications, promotional materials, and I like to get the highest quality (photographic quality, not image quality) that I can get.

And from what I have seen, the angle, location, background, focus, lens selection and placement of shots, he is top notch.

I am not trying to offend anyone, but there are people who "takes pics and sell them at the track" and there are "professional photographers" at the track.

There are like 40 pages of thumbnails. This is located on page 12, which was missing its index file until he fixed it later. So you wouldn't have seen it eariler.

The pics are indexed by comp. numbers. The higher your number is, the later in the list you are. Just keep going until you see your number. He doesn't take much of the amateurs. He takes "print" quality photographs that can be used in hi-res commercial printing like posters (well you can use anything but my standards are high). I am not sure AM's have the same need for his equipment and skill.

There are lots of photographers at the track taking pics. If you are just looking for pics to show your friends, you probably aren't going to appreciate his work.

Just cause I'm an amateur doesn't mean I don't know, or appreciate, photography.  Besides, what do you think would be more impressive to my friends - a far off, pixilated shot of me on the track - or one of these that makes you look like you're suitable for framing?

I was not actually disagreeing with you, I am just stating my provocative for buying photos. Actually I would never buy a photo to frame it and hang on my wall, I would however make a poster with myself on it lol

BTW, you have to wait til when he totally updates his site. Last year at summit point he shot 3 amateur races and had hundreds of pics of AM's. The gallery you looking at is the "best of" gallery, not the entirety of his photos.

There are also others at the track that take hi-res photos, you should check them out as well.

and finally, for personal use, me personally is ok with not having the best equipment and quality, just "good enough". A good photo can be just the content. If it is clear enough, and contains the right angle, action, moment you are looking for, wouldn't it be ok for you to use for personal use? It is all about what it captures.

I agree he should take more pics of AM's. I was always dissappointed when I was a AM that he never took more pics of me. But you can email him and ask, he may have them, just not posed.

Yeah, that would have been the Sportbike race?  Lead pack that was ahead of Himmelsbach, Jesse, Conrad, Conboy, Eslick ,and I...

Nice pic....

And that's what FUSA racing is about.

Sorry that it took so long to get the pics up guys but I had surgery immediately after I got home from Daytona and it really kicked my butt!  Doc told me today no traveling or anything for two weeks...Greg, if you're reading this, I guess we're off next week-end.
