Title: Dreams of Racing
Post by: Lowe119 on February 12, 2004, 06:14:18 AM
Do any of y'all dream at night about racing? I'm talking when you're asleep  :)

I notice that around this time of year, I start having more and more dreams about racing.  Some of the time they are about me showing up to a new town and there is a huge race going on and I'm too late to register.   :-/ ;D :D

Any of y'all have quirky race things happen in dreams? No brakes? No Power? Naked? Unlimited sliding ability?

I'm trying to get into the minds of my competitors

the other nite i had a 102 fever and was having dreams about racing.

Rossi was stalking RIGHT behind me, wasn't showing me a wheel, he was showing me a KNEE.

I held him off pretty good until the last corner of the last lap where I let him by (I hate that corner).

I spoke with him afterwards (he had these long blonde dreadlocks, coulda been a publicity stunt wig) and told me I was really tough to get by and that I was doing great out there.

:D :D :D :D :D

I guess being sick is good for something. (of course, falling asleep with 'SeaBiscuit' on the television had the beginning of the dream quite f'ed up)

This isn't the first time this subject has come up.  Next we'll talk about the crashing dreams that leave you bolt upright and sweating.  I've fallen out of bed dragging a knee through the kink at Road America.  Stumpy has the best dreams, though...  At least the funniest when retold by Heather!

Yup, he's full of them.

Not racing related, but have I ever told you about the time he got stuck under the nightstand with the phone?  That's about when we decided not to keep a phone with speed dial right next to the bed.

Nothing beats "the Suzukis are coming into the pits!"

The fun never stops...

I think I can cound on one hand how many racing dreams I've had.  Wouldn't mind some, but for some reason, after all these years, I still don't have them.

From some of my readings - I believe from Carl Jung - I heard that dreams are sometimes the opposite of what we get in our conscious life - to keep us 'sane'.
That may be why some of us don't dream about things we are doing currently. IE - I never dream about a current girlfriend or friend that I am still doing stuff with and I never dream about racing during the season. Maybe if I was active on preparing for this season, I wouldn't be dreaming about it..... :-/
I've had no brakes in dream corners and just leaned that much more to make it.
The day I found out about race school, I rode on the back of Haga's R7.
I guess the night of race school, I was leaning and putting my knee out all night in bed  :D

I'm assuming "the Suzukis are coming into the pits!" was exclammed in a sleep state?   ;D

Oh yes, while giving the thumbs up sign to the garbage man out the window!!!!!!!

He just couldn't understand why I didn't want to come watch them.

Our poor garbage man.

Paul woke up one morning just exhausted.  He said that he was racing on the track and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't come into the pits, he couldn't crash, it was just lap...  after lap.....  after lap....  after lap.......

Dawn   ;)

I had a dream the other night that Tom Mason was
riding my bike and he set the lap record at BHF...
and after he pulled in, evrybody was pointing at me and laughing that the tire guy kicked ass on my bike... and went a whole second faster than me on it.
ignorant bastards I was yelling at them.....Tom is the
fastest man in Beloit......he sells tires for a living....
it was a good dream. Besides, I did a 1:10:04.....
after winning the GTU...the tires looked perfect and Tom says " something is wrong here...these look too good, you're not riding hard enough" I said..
"Tom I just beat everybodies a$$"....then he did what he did, and I don't remember anything else.

I have been daydreaming alot lately tho... I got it
down to around 1:14:00 on the stop watch...just imagining myself at BHF........ I need someone to imagine with me....and pass me ;D I can't wait.....

I cornerworked for fifteen years before I decided to race.  Safe to say that I knew the score better than most rookies.  The night before my school, my dreams were full of haybales and helecopters...  It wasn't much fun.
