Title: 2004 Contingency
Post by: Kevin177 on February 04, 2004, 11:40:20 AM
Any news?  I notice it's not posted yet, and WERA has had theirs up for several weeks.  That usually means the mfrs have made their decisions on which clases and organizations to support.

I'd like to support the manufactureres that are supporting us.  :)

WERA only has a partial list up, but at least they are posting them as they get them

OK, now that there's been a race, I would think the contingency info is complete.  But it isn't on the ccsracing.com.   :P

Updates please?

I believe there's a few other threads about this and the result was that it usually isn't posted until ~after Daytona race.

I just search the board, and last year, it wasn't posted until ~March 10th

Its like that every year !!

It's a good think that most race bikes are built before the contingency is announced.

We would never think of trying to support the contingency sponsers !

ITS A SCAM!!

  I have two questions;
    1. What is the need for "posting" contingency? I was under the impression we simply signed up at the track on day of race?
    2. What are the differences between contingency and sponsorship? I know, that's a pretty basic question, but I'm brand spankin' new at this second mortgage hobby. TIA

1. we want to know what contingencies are avaliable so we can plan what equipment we are going to run. Some haven't finished building bikes or getting ready for the season yet. If brand x is paying more than brand y (or if brand y is not paying at all) and they are both quality products, I think I will choose brand x

2. sponsorship give you financial relief in the form of cash, perks, discounts or prodcuts. Regardless of your per race performance. They are sold on YOU. You provide for the them(advertising usually, but could be anything) in exhange for their help.

contingecy are result based program that reward racers who uses certain products. It is manufacturers' way to help racers who use their products. It is based on per race performance.

Tires?  Yeah.  Well, anything reasonable.  It can make a difference in what someone uses, as long as the performance is good.  If it's Cr@p, you can watch some riders results change because of it.  Tires again are a good example.

The trick is that some things require a different set up...tires again.... ;D

The majority of our Contingency sponsors return every year, less than a 10% "drop-out" rate. We are at their mercy as far as releasing what is available and when, and only Kawasaki of the big four has sent their info out yet. I do know that these folks have renewed or signed up (they have already sent us the sticker supply for the season):

Dunlop
Pirelli
Michelin
Kawaski
Hotbodies
Sharkskinz
EBC
SBS Brakes
Silkolene

There are more signed up, but these folks have already sent us the required stickers.

Suzuki is working on the dates they will pay, while we have heard verbal returns from Honda and Yamaha, so please be patient.  As soon as our contingnecy agency has a list for us we will release it.

Thanks for wanting to support those who support us!
