I was rather suprised to see this pairing. Why are these two classes (which are comprised of relativly similar bikes) being run together? Not happy!
I am guessing neither classes gets enough entries so no point in keeping them seperate. if its the same people racing the 2 classes, then it really doesnt look like the attendence will improve. Why run 2 money loosing classes if you can run them at the same time!
Where did you see that LWSS was now going to be run with Thunderbike?
Dawn :)
That would suck for thoes that wanted points for both classes, wouldnt they have to pay for two races and only get one race if they wanted points for both?
Lightweight Supersport having low entries? Since the SV came out...I don't think so. Philly, you've got to have tons of people in the east coast regions that race that. That's like bread and butter...
Matt, where are you seeing it?
Well, here...

They are on separate days...
Here, yeah, with the one day race schedule...

Same race. They've got to change that. Doesn't make sense to me, and I don't currently race a lightweight bike.
I noticed they are doing the same thing at Firebird for February 22. It is dissappointing since I like running both races seperately. As a newbie I liked getting the additional track time in Thunderbikes.

I have to agree Dave. It Dont make sense to me either. So if they dont change it, and I want to run both classes, will I have to pay a double entry fee to race both races but only have one race to do it in? That would really suck! This needs to be changed. Like you said Matt, both these classes are relativly similar bikes. If your going for points in both classes, then your getting screwed. Twice the money spent for one combined race! Come on now!! That just isnt right.
Just wanted to add my voice to the request.
please run separately.
I ran both Thunderbike and LW SS last season. Would like to again. There must be some other combination of classes that would work better.
LWSS ride up LTSB ride up Thunderbike ride up LTGP.
So if you currently run LWSS and Thunder switch to LWSS and LWSB or Thunder and LWSB and they would be one step ride ups rather than two. Then you are still left with LTGP for a third class.
No, that's goofy...
It would be like combining Middleweight Supersport with Heavyweight Superbike. Sure, middleweight bikes can ride in the heavyweight classes, but to combine them so that someone has to make a choice, and then CCS looses entries...
It just looks goofy to combine those two. There has to be a better way.
I think that will kill off Thunderbike in the SW. Currently its not a big class, and at least 75% of the people running it are on LWSS legal bikes. Now forced to choose between LWSS, which has more contingency oppertunities and pays overall points, and Thunderbike, which do you think people will choose? >:(
I am planning on running Thunderbike on my motard (not SS legal), but am I going to have anyone to race against ???
-z.
I wanted to race my H1 in Thunderbike because it won't be legal in LWSS. But I want to race against all the SS bikes. Really too bad.
This just BITES!! >:( Not happy about this at all! Is there anything we can do at this stage of the game to get this changed? ??? If not, then I have to re-think my whole stratagy for the season.
Ah well. Can't say I'm surprised. First all the LW Sportsman & SuperSingles get combined into one class, and now this. Race a 600 or don't race at all. They should change the name to CCS600.
Doh! :o
Quote Race a 600 or don't race at all. They should change the name to CCS600.
Nah, if it was that, then they would have kept Sportbike in the regional mix.

Doesn't work for me. I plan to run two different bikes in the Lightweight Classes, plus Thunderbike.
If we have to combine classes, can't we at least combine with classes that don't conflict?

Ditto!!
They ran LWSS combined with Thunderbike in FL last year. It sucked, as I would have ran both classes had they been seperate, instead I was forced to choose (LWSS). Then for an extra class I ran LW GP, which isn't exactly a great class for an SV.
But in FL last year we were lucky to get 5 entries in a LW race at FL only events.. I think I did a SE event where I got 2nd, out of 2 experts..

Agreed completely...
How about this pairing...
ULGP and HWSS combined?
Pretty similar...doesn't make sense?
Anyone touch base with Kevin?
Great idea!
I nominate you, SuperDave! ;D
Let us know how it goes :-)
Well, that's fine and all...
But I'm not racing in either class. Maybe someday when the H1 is done.
It really should be done by someone that does race either class.
Probably right.
I'll try to squeze in a phone call to Kevin Monday morning.
Combining ULGP and HWSS would probably not be the best idea. The biggest reason why is safety. One, you have ULGP guys racing for money- they get serius and would be moaning like you know what if a HWSS guy got in the way or accidentally tangled and took them out. Two, you have ULGP bikes making in excess of 165 HP with most 'legal' HWSS bikes maybe putting out 140hp if they are lucky(read legal again). It is unfortunate to lose classes or have them combined. This happens because there is not enough racer interest in a class to make it feasible monetarily and not to mention- makes it a snorefest for a high energy announcer (just kidding- I can always use a break especially here in the SW!).
cstem, Dave was being sarcastic. ;D
Exactly...
But even then, I have to complain about 165HP bikes being in the way of my 105HP bike in the corners.
Regardless, HWSS bikes can and do run in ULGP. LWSS bikes do run in Thunderbike. Thunderbikes can make 100HP where legal LWSS bikes can make in excess of 70HP legally.
No kidding Rob? I guess my sarcasm was a little too real? And Dave, I have no doubt you could do pretty well on an H1! (NO sarcasm there) I love watching older machinery (not to mention racers) beat up on new stuff and bodies!
So what is the deal? Kevin- are you going to run these classes to gether or what? I am really getting more frustrated by this issue. >:(
Has anyone who will be participating in these classes either called or e-mailed Mr. Elliot?
This is the only way you will get a definate answer.
Dawn ;)

I guess I will call today or tomorrow.. I have a FEW questions that I need answers to. If I get any type of answer, I will post it.
I wrote Keven an e-mail and he reloied with this answer.... "That conflice has already been addressed and the schedule changed for Road America (if you look in the Road America schedule in your mailer that just went out, you will see the revised schedule)"
