Title: SV tailsection
Post by: Super_KC124 on January 09, 2004, 08:02:59 PM
Is a Superbike style tail section legal in Supersport? I've heard alot about guys cutting down the stock seat and thought this might be a better way to go....or not. :)

Kevin:

Paul used both a GSXR one piece tail section and another that used the stock seat.  He prefers to use the one that uses the stock seat, he did remove some of the foam though.

I thought that all bodywork was legal for SVs since they don't have full fairings stock?  Is that right?

Any bodywork is legal on any bike in super sport

2004 rulebook
6.1.2 C) Any fairing may be used provided it is made of plastic, fiberglass or carbon fiber.

I thought I'd read that bodywork had to be of the same style as stock except for machines that didn't come with stock fairings (i.e. makes double bubble windscreens illegal).  Maybe that was another organization's rules... ???

ISTR that WERA did not allow changing bodywork. I have used a double bubble in supersport. I think most people use the stock appearing bodywork because it is easier to install.

Yeah, in CCS, SS doesnt require ss fairings.

WERA does, EXCEPT SVs can run anything.

Hey Nate,

Sorry for the threadjack, but do you make frame sliders for the 03/04 SV's?

When I bought my older SV, it had custom frame sliders because most of the other ones out there didn't extend past the bodywork.  Have you heard of this as well?

In any event, I'll be looking shortly for new sliders for the new bike ..

Thanks.

Ekraft:

Yes, I've done the custom sliders to go past bodywork.

But, those aren't as good as the symmetrical type. The symmetrical ones use a bigger (read: stronger) bolt and mounting point. They are also longer to begin with. Usually long enough.

check out my kit at www.motosliders.com/newsite/MS-4.htm

These fit ALL SV650s 99-04.

I will have online ordering within the next month or so.

I'm out of stock right now, waiting on some custom bolts to come in. Should have some in a week or 2. Let me know when you want to order.

Nate,

If you can, let me know when you have them available.  Thanks.
