Title: New forum software
Post by: gerry on December 22, 2003, 05:14:24 PM
Any chance the boards will be updated to different bulletin software.  I think maybe with a more popular bulletin software (vbulletin) this place might grow and be more popular.  There are many features that are sorely lacking in this software not to mention how much more user-friendly some other boards are.

This is just a suggestion.  I like these boards and am a frequent visitor nonetheless.

I run YaBB on cbr600f4.com and cbr600rr.com exclusively.  120k hits per day to the forums and everyone seems happy thus far...

What are you looking for?  A lot can be done within YaBB...

whats the best PHP based BBS free? I need to chop the login to integrate with my own db and user table. and the rest of it are in php, so I need to look for php systems.  And some boards are nice, but the code are written in a way that integration is harder than others... If you can suggest a few, I can look and see which fits my needs

thanks

Get phpbb --> http://phpbb.com/

It's what I used for the USGPRU board  --> http://usgpru.net/forum/

I'd look at phpbb as mentioned, and yabbse at www.yabbse.org

YaBBse takes like 3 minutes to install and get running.  It is simple to use and maintain as well.  As for developing around it or on top of it?  Well, that would largely depend on your php skills...

i personally didn't like how phpbb is coded. I can write the darn thing faster than modifying. So I will take a look at the other one, thanks

I am just being lazy, I can write phpbb comparable bbs in about 3 days... but I am lazy
