I'm sure this has been asked/answered a thousand times through the years.... But I'm looking at generators so I'll ask again. What would I need from a generator that would have to run two sets of warmers? What's a set typically require? Thanks in advance for info.
IIRC, a set is about 1500 watts, so you need a generator that can handle 3K watts continuously.
There are some 2200 watt generators that can be "hooked together" and then they make more continuous power. Honda and Yamaha, I believe. Seems like it's the new thing. There are times when I'd like to have more than the 2500 watts that I have but being tied down to a generator in one place....might be the new cool idea.
it depends on the set of tire warmers. Some are as low as 750W per SET, while others are +2x that.
I have a Honda EN2500 generator which recommended peak is 2500w and sustained is 2000w. I have easily powered a set of chicken hawks, a set of tyr sox and a couple of industrial fans at the same time. Oh yeah, can't forget the TV and PS2 which is on non-stop...
I ran a set of chicken hawks AND a set of Bickles on my Honda EU2000i but it grunted a bit when both kicked on at once. Didn't blow the breaker, though.
Right.. depends on the wattage... Woodcraft/bakers are 750w per set, so that's 1500 total. Basically just add the voltage of the warmers plus any other items that you may want to run at the same time, and get a generator that is rated a little more than that #
I ran bakers and a fan off a Honda EU1000. Nice, quiet generator. And yea, they can be hooked together as SD said
We have a Honda EU3000, and we run 2 sets of warmers, frige, ac, H2O heater.

And won't run all the stuff that Dawn's does.
no you didn't win. We got ours for FREE. When you make the preseason resumes, you never know what you can get from whom!

Good for you! :D
However coming from one of the least populated areas in the state of Wisconsin, it's very hard to convince any of the businesses (two funeral homes, a feed mill, couple of gas stations :-/) that this whole motorcycle road racing thing would benefit their business.
Dawn ;)
Have you tried a HONDA Equip. dealer, or a Yamaha Equip. dealer., or Home Depot, or Lowes, etc...
Don't limit yourself by your geographic location. Racing is a worldwide sport. How much does MOTOGP effect the U.S.? When was the last time they raced on U.S. soil?
