this is my understanding ...

1. you must be a current expert
2. you must have accumulated 100 points according to the AMA point scale. Which only pay points in a race with 15 or more people

point scale here: https://home.ama-cycle.org/prorace/pdf/04rr-regsandeligibility.pdf

So I guess start a spread sheet, and see if you have 100 points, and what races/dates you earned the points on, and then send the list to Tiff to get her to sign it, then apply for your AMA license.

hope it helps

Quoteplus have one year as an experts with wera  ccs or any racing orginization

"AMA Pro Racing expert riders must hold an AMA Pro Racing Expert license for one full year and earn a minimum of 200 Expert advancement points to obtain a Superbike License. Accumulation of advancement points will begin upon issuance of an AMA Pro Racing Expert License."

There is nothing that says you need to be an expert in WERA/CCS/whatever for a full year before getting an AMA Pro license... ;D

Dafan: "Which only pay points in a race with 15 or more people"

Actually, it says 16-29, and 30+, so 15's not gonna cut it.  ;)

the one year clause is only for SUPERBIKE license. regular Expert license (for SS, ST, and FX) just requires a Ex license from elsewhere. Many first year Experts have raced AMA in Daytona the first race as an Expert in recent memories.

So Greg, I am going to see you at VIR? you getting a license too? $250 is a lil steep for just one race... I will see

i talked to them on the phone they said a year in license as an expert with another orginzation and 100 points to get an AMA expert lic.  then 1 year in lic as an AMA expert and 200 points to get superbike lic.

Is $250 for the race weekend or the license?  If it's for the weekend, that's not bad.  From what I've heard, that include practices, qualifying, and the race.

$250 just for the license, and there is no 1-event license... I guess I should get it anyway so the anypoints I earn this year would go toward a superbike license.

The rules for AMA are wacked. Saw 2 AM/NV go to AMA Daytona 200 with no expert races so if you want it and did well as an AM you can get the superbike license.

I tell you who got their AMA pro license right after they upgraded to Expert elsewhere:
Greg Moore, 02 WERA Novice, 03 AMA Pro
Gio Rojas, 01 Novice, 02 AMA Pro
Joe Ford, 02 CCS AM, 03 AMA Pro
There are a few more, no point in listing all. And the above 3 all raced at the Daytona right after they become expert.

I got my AMA Pro Ex license less than a year from becoming an expert (and only my 2nd year racing).  This year I have enough points for a SB license, and although I don't plan on using it this season, I think i'm gonna get it just in case they change the eligibility rules again.
