I will certainly to the Road America AMA round as part of "Super Dave's Race Against Childhood Cancer" program for 2004.  But the plan is to run FUSA primarily in addition to the local stuff at Blackhawk and Road America.

I should have some a T-Shirt program coming together very soon to raise money for the project which will raise funds for Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer...a local fund here in Milwaukee.

I am planning on the VIR. I know I can qualify, so maybe just go down and have some fun. And by Sept, I should improve on my times with this new bike, and new season. So thats my plan

I'm gonna try to hit Laguna.  I should have the points for the Pro License by then.

I've been on the track twice.  Both times were the "ticket to ride" laps at the WSB/AMA races with my streetbike.

Should be entertaining.  :-/

im hoping to do 1 or 2 races. Getting lapped will get me some TV time perhaps! I thought coverage was great in 03 on SPEED. They often mentioned the names of riders & sponsors during the race for not only the leaders, but for the guys just out giving it a go too!

I would stay and do daytona if the hotel not gonna cost so much! Extra 5 days... mmm I am tempted.

I guess if I do pay the 250, I may as well do a few more rounds. VIR, Road Atlanta, Barber, and maybe Road Am?

To go to Laguna, not only do you need the AMA license, but you need AMA points from a previous round from that year.

Check with the AMA, but I believe they limit the amount of people trying to qualify and it is based AMA points and date of registration.  Good luck, just getting points is hard.

A friend of mine traveled all the way to Laguna and they wouldn't let him enter. He had several top ten finishes in previous seasons. >:(

r6_philly:

what times do you have to run at vir to qualify?

Depends on how fast the pole is and how many people enter the race.

They'll take forty riders, or so, maybe forty-four.  And they have to qualify within a percentage of the pole time.

in 2003, there were 35 people tring to qualify, pole time was 1:27.506, 112% is 1:38.01. So if you make the time you can race. SuperDave is right, if there were more people then they would take the top 40 or so.

But if I don't do at least a 33 or 34 I am not going to go. Just spend lots of money for experience. But I am thinking about getting a license just starting to get points and time toward a superbike license. You never know, one day I may actually go fast :)

i'm going to definitly shoot for this someday.  just to be able to race with the big boys and in that environment must be a great experience.
