For those of you traveling thru this area that use the I-90 / Bypass 20 / I-39 jog around the south side of Rockford, Illinois I have good news. The nightmare unmanned toll booths at the I-90 / Bypass 20 interchange are being removed! (right next to the Magic Waters water park)
Anyone who has sat at one of the not uncommon 5+ mile long, 1/2 hour wait, traffic jams, can appreciate just how needed this was. There have been so many BAD accidents in both directions from stopped traffic being plowed into from behind because of this toll booth that after years of trying to get them removed they finally are doing it. I heard the south bound tolls have already been removed and the north bound will be removed around the 1st of the year. Definately a much needed improvement!
FYI - To compensate for the loss of this 15 cent toll, the toll at the Illinois / Wisconsin border on I-90 has been increased by 10 cents from 40 to 50 cents.
I've had a few close dodges there, and certainly wasted a lot of time in jams. That's good news for anyone east or south of Blackhawk!

I live about a 1 mile from that toll booth. I have seen time and time again, trafic backed up all the way to 39 south and Riverside road north. I have sat on the overpass between the un-maned booth and the clock tower overlooking the tollway in amazement at the trafic back up just because of that stupid booth. All I can say is "BRAVO" to I.D.O.T. and the Gov. for getting rid of this pain in the azz of a toll booth. ;D

BTW has anyoneheard that teh WIDOT was thinking of putting its own toll booth just north of the IL border? Can we all say thats a BONEHEAD idea?

I totally agree with that, in fact for anyone (such as myself) that uses both tolls to get to BHF it will actually be cheaper now. ;D
It's really sad that $MONEY$ was the only reason that booth wasn't removed a long time ago. Alot of people over the years ended up in the hospital or died due to that toll being there and causing those massive traffic problems.
