Rumor I heard is that Joe Rocket defaulted on paying riders and has declared bankruptcy.
The assets, or maybe inventory, has been bought by a distributor that had a huge amount on hand.
Then there is the info on Road Racing World with Mladin signing with them....hmmm, this will be interesting. Maybe they are just pulling the name to another country.
I just heard that N. Hayden parted ways with them. :-/
He was given like 10% ownership in the company. Well, it's bankrupt so the paper is worth nothing.
where did you hear about the bankruptcy? I woluld like to read about it. It seem weird that Mladin would sign with them if they are going under
Sorry, not something I read about.
I think it might be interesting to watch unfold. '
Who else was under the Joe Rocket name? Miguel, etc?
Yet, they weren't wearing Joe Rocket Leathers...they had the patches though.
Let me guess --- Vansons!? ;)
That kind of misrepresentation really ticks me off.

Then you dont wanna hear that Both Haydens and Duhamels RC51's "Jardine" pipes were not made by Jardine. ;D
Really!? That one is a suprise.
I knew about the helmets not being production, IF from the same company.
Who made those?
I WANT to hear about it, I just dont like it

tommy and roger hayden, miguel, zemke, schwantz, szoke, buckmaster, craggil, chandler, crevier, picotte, pegram.
I don't know what you've been seeing but those leathers look pretty JoeRocket to me. I've been wearing them for years and the ones they wear look the same with the exception of the custom color designs

HRC or Akrapovic pipes...payment was about $250,000 to the team.
QuoteLet me guess --- Vansons!? ;)
I heard that once, but I understand that they are RS Taich or how ever it's spelled.
Seems and the interior stitching didn't look like anything that I've seen from Joe Rocket. I don't worry about it. I do wear Vanson Leathers.
Ah, preproduction helmets....
I do know that I had pre production helmets myself from Bieffe in 1994. They were lighter.
I know that Suomy uses standard helmets. Aaron Gobert's helmet was some replica helmet that was painted. Saw it after his big Daytona get off. You could see what helmet it was.
Regardless, it's advertising. It is nice when the product is actually used.

100% not true i just got off the phone with Sullivans which is the ONLY dist. of Joe Rocket in the US and there is no truth to this at all the part about Hayden is true he has left them but they just singed Mladin so i do not know where you heard this but you can tell whoever told you this they are full of it ;D
Yeah, that's what I've been hearing, too. Their parent company is very well, financially, so this doesnt add up. ???
QuoteYeah, that's what I've been hearing, too. Their parent company is very well, financially, so this doesnt add up. ???
that is why i said what i said..i called them and it is not true at all
Dont you just love BS being spread by people who really dont know anything. ;D
hers the deal from inside the industry as i hear it,un officially.joe rocket was having there product produced in one country and then telling the customs people it was coming from another in order to save on import taxation.aparently the differance between the two countries was large enough to lets say get shady over the deal.from there i understand that the goverment has or is building a case against them fro tax reasons pertaing to the manufacturing issues.i know that one distributor of the stuff was approached by the owners of rocket and asked to invest in the company, when they started turning rocks over that swhat they found.
i'm wondering where you heard this Dave?
Sullivans...yeah, that's the name that I heard the is buying it all up and keeping it going. There stake is too high. Makes sense.
Where'd I hear it from...sorry, that I won't say. Kind of like a lot of things I do with people...it's in confidence that I don't reveal sources, or who I'm selling what fuel to.

Ok well whoever told you that is not telling the truth i deal with sullivans all the time and that is who i asked abotu this rumor and they said that nothing like that is not true and even more that Joe Rocket was # 1 right now
That's fine. They can be number one. They can have their leathers produced outside the country or what ever. Regardless, my source is reliable. Really doesn't change what I believe is potentially true.
Doesn't change the fact that Nicky Hayden IS out of his contract. He had an ownership stake in the Joe Rocket. If things have changed...
Would make sense that if Sullivans had a major investment in JR inventory that they may not want to show all their cards.
If JR is in the process of refinancing and/or working out a sale to another company, better to maintain as much confidence in the product until final details are worked out.

Well there are reasons that Hayden has left... pick up the phone and call sullivans...they will be happy to tell you
I wouldn't expect Sullivans to tell you anything except "joe rocket is doing great" even if Joe rocket's bankrupcy papers are pending in court right now.
Bingo.

A short note on manufacturing. Many countries do the bait and switch technique, but it's a bit more insidious than you might think. Know all of those cool clothes that say "Made in the USA"? Well, unless you're buying couture designer duds in NYC like Calvin Klein, most likely the garments are made in a little known US holding of islands in the Pacific, thus the legal use of the "made in..." label. Other countries use this tactic as well. Just thought a little FYI might get ya thinkin'.

If you wanna talk about bait and switch, I think Lockhart is the biggest bunch of slim balls ever.
I ordered a set of 16.5" OZ rims from them this summer. Got transfered around to a bunch of different rep since nobody had a clue what the details were.
In the end, only after I finally got a hold of Aaron did I find out that they only had 17". Not only that--but he told me they were NEVER going to get the 16.5" size rims (although listed in their catalog). They then tried to convince me into buying a set of $4000 BST Carbon Fibre wheel not understanding that if I'm not a street squid. If I'm buying rims I'm going 16.5 where the real tire dev. work goes.
Needless to say, I canceled the order. Two weeks later I got a blanket spam email from them stating how their new special of the month were OZ rims in 16.5" sizes. I called just to confirm my doubts--no change--still don't have em, weren't going to order any, and couldn't get any even if they tired.
To be topical...
Dainese Leathers...the tag in the liner says "Made in Italy"...that's where the liner is made. The leather garment comes from Pakistan or Romania where they pay people $0.06 an hour. Still charge you $1100 for a fair suit.

Don't even get me started on LP..lol this would be a LONG post ...i can't stand them ;D

They've been good to me. But then I only make one order a year from them in February. I get all my chains, levers, fairing stays, grips etc before the season starts and they run out of stuff. I know that later in the year people start to have availability problems with them, so I try to avoid that.
All I know is that..... I DON'T GIVE A $HIT!! :-X Who cares? There are other leather and riding apparel manufacturers out there to choose from. ;)
GpTech was the importer of the OZ 16.5 wheels and LP got the 17" ones.
Flattop?
I don't know anything about Joe Rocket. Maybe they're fine and maybe they're not.
But I had some friends that were told not to worry about BRP this summer. Did we ever find out what country Jason fled to? ::) :-X
Somewhere in Europe I heard.
QuoteBut I had some friends that were told not to worry about BRP this summer.
Huh? ??? BRP?
Guy out of Lincoln, Nebraska that was traveling as a race vendor for Flintstone tires and some other stuff.
One day, he was just gone.
Jason of BRP is gone.
But BRP still exists, Brian Johnson (CCS MW#75 Am) is running it now.
