I'm planning on going over to see the TT races with my girlfriend and need advice from anyone who has been over there. We never have. We want to watch a day (or two if the woman lets me) of racing and then do a little touring of Ireland.
Should we wing it when we get over there or should we have everything planned out with reservations and all. I have no clue what it is actually like and I'm sure it's pretty hectic (at least on the island) during the TT events.
Any advice is appreciatted. We have a tourist guide with hotels and all, but I'm sure it's a little different during that week. ???
Thank you
Is Anthony Connor's user name am_#65_john_deere? He's from Ireland. Maybe he could give you some advice.
You two are going to have a blast!
Heather
Does any one have the contact number for "Hook"? He was over there last year.
Dawn :-/
StumpysWife - I think I sat and had a couple beers with y'all at bfr - including #65 from Ireland. I wish I would've known I was going back then. Does 'stumpy' have a rr with a fiberglass tank cover?
Yes, He does have an RR. They all have fiberglass tank covers ;). When did we hang out? Last BHF? I'm trying to figure out who you are...
I'm jealous of your trip!
Heather
It was the night of July 19th, I believe. You were pretty busy. I think you were grilling something. I believe it was 'Stumpy' who I had a chance to pass in the GTU race, but I was way too tired. :-[ I'm not a very talkative person (unless I've been drinking), but I did stop by on Sunday and asked some questions about the rr. That is when you told me about the fiberglass cover.
I don't know if this refreshes anything, but..... :-/ :)
Hmmmm, we're always grilling so that doesn't help :).
Well next year introduce yourself again so I remember you!

Anthony would be the guy to talk to. He's from Ireland, and has kin there. (Including a brother who races.) He would be the Irish guy you talked to at BHF.
A guy I rode for went last year.
PM me or e-mail me and I'll hook you up. Two days might not be long enough.
Book Book Book Book... NOW!
you might be late already unless you wanna camp out there...
Ferries and flights will probably be full. Please note as well that you cannot rent motorbikes in Ireland.
If you happen to fly into Dublin, lemme know and I meet you for a few pints!
Dutchie in Dublin
Antal at pycom.ie
Man I wish I were going. Dutchie is going to be my host for the Assen TT as soon as he moves back to Holland, right...? ;D
So do the boats, ferries, and flights get reserved/booked up? I can see the flights, but the boats too? or is there a good possibility of finding a way over if I get to Dublin or something? Can't I just rent a canoe and 2 paddles j/k :P
Well as a foot passenger you will ofcourse get on(the boat that is)! No worries there!
for flights or accomodations, you best start booking now.
Is it the Manx or the TT you wanna go to?
;)
You want some advice,
YOU SUCK!!!
only cuz I'm jealous!
The TT races June 5th-11th. I am planning on seeing the races on the 5th and the 7th.
So we can get to the island by boat w/o reservations? I know the other half isn't too keen on camping there. So where is the best part of the island to stay (if we can still get a place)? I have hotel numbers, but don't want to be at a lame part of the races (if there is one). The books say the whole island is a party, though :D :-/ ;D
What is the best way to get around with luggage - bus, taxi, tractors? I don't know what to do once I get out of my 100 mile radius ;D
yeah, you should be able to make the boat, bets to stay around Douglas and get one of the local cabs to bring you up to a nicer viewing point...
Remember that the average speed for the F1 bikes is 120mph... :P
So try and find a place where they dont pass you in the blink of an eye... ;D
