Title: Getting bumped
Post by: Racingxtc7 on November 19, 2003, 09:34:07 PM
I believe the rules for being bumped may need some adjustment. I'm all for bumping rides who possess great ability and using the perfromance index might be a good way of judging ones ability.

I'm not sure how the Perf Index is calculated, as long as it takes into consideration grid size then you may have something there.

If it doesn't factor in grid size I'm not sure it's worth that much.

More importantly, what defines and delineates and Expert from a Novice? If it's perfromance based then the Perf Index may be a workable solution. However if it's based more on your ability to run and finish a race safely and without causing problems, regardless of if it's first place or last, then the Perf Index won't help much. Maybe a combination of the two?

And are crashes taken into account? If they are some riders would never move up, even though they are capable of finishing on the podium (when they finsh)

Either way I think the system based purely on points is not a good way to go. It doesn't tell much, esp. since in the CCS system points are handed out almost like candy. From what I've seen and read in the rules I could crash out of every race I enter and as long as I finished one lap get points enough to be moved to Expert status.

I think this should be examined.

You guys just missed your chance... CCS' rules committee met last weekend to discuss possible changes for the '04 season.
