:'(
This weekend on his way to VIR Paul suffered a fatal incident. If there was anyone who ABSOLUTELY cared for racers, it was him. My condolences go out to his family and friends. Roadracing lost a true champion.
GODSPEED PAUL!!
Our condolences to his family.

I am at loss for words.
Godspeed Paul!!!!!!!!!
thanks for the info.
Not sure of the time. You can call the funeral home and they can give you the information.
Paul, you will, without a doubt, be missed by everyone in the paddock.
:'(I missed the VIR weekend, and was called by Randy Rega with the sad news today. After getting to know the CCS people pretty well down South these last couple of seasons, Paul was one of those that stood out as a racer's friend and fair guy when it came to needing help. His smiling face will be sorely missed. Thoughts and prayers to those he left behind

The news of Paul's accident came to me from Kevin Elliott by cell phone just before Registration opened Friday night. The emotion we felt then (and still feel) cannot really be expressed in words. If I was short or rude to any of you during that fretful hour, I apologize. I was not myself and I ask your forgiveness.
Paul touched the lives of so many during his brief 35 years here on earth. I feel blessed to have known a man of such character, friendliness and warmth. I cannot help but feel he was still with us at the track watching from above. He will be missed for a very long time.

Sad news indeed. What a shock! I had the opportunity to room with Paul a couple of times at the F-USA races. What a mellow and great person he was. I, along with his other friends and family will miss his smiling face and jokes. Paul is in a better place now. And we are not that far behind. Rest in Peace, Brother. God bless you.

I forgot to mention more details about the services.
Viewing from 5-7 pm
Memorial Service immediately following the services.
I'm not sure if the address is 11 East Blvd. or 1111 East Blvd., but the info Stacey provided on phone & name of funeral home is correct.
For those of you who plan to attend ... be prepared. Paul's brother supposedly looks and acts just like him.
I just wanted to say that I was very impressed by the CCS officials at VIR, who carried out a successful race weekend while dealing with great sadness and the extra challenges brought on by Mr. Farrell's unfortunate absence.
My condolences to Mr. Farrell's family, friends and associates.
GOD speed Paul you will be missed!

GODSPEED PAUL.
You will greatly be missed. I cannot explain the complete shock to the system when we got the announcement Saturday morning. I am planning on being at the service. If anyone from the Fayetteville, NC area wants to ride with me you can. I got plenty of room.

:( Paul will be missed by so many he has touched the lives of somany staff and racers not just from the southeast region but every where he's been. Paul came aboard as a corner worker in 89 and has been with since that time. He became the southeast race director in 99 and for me personaly its going to take a very long time to get over this. My heart felt condolinces go out to Pauls family, Freinds, racers and staff that new and Loved Him. Paul is in a better place now looking down on all of us laughing and wanting us to remmber all the good times and memories we will always have together.
GOD SPEED
There is absolutely nothing that can be said to explain the hurt and grief we all share. Paul was "the guy"--the guy you could talk to about anything and he would genuinely listen and care what you had to say. I never heard him say one negative word the entire time I've known him--he always looked for the best in everything and everyone. Most importantly, he absolutely loved what he did. He loved the racers, the staff, and basically everything about the sport itself. People like him are few and far between, and I'm sure you all agree when I say my heart just aches in his absence. Angels wings, Paul, we miss you. :'(
This is my first year racing and I met Paul just a few races ago. He has made my experience with CCS great. He will be missed. God speed to paul. Our thoughts will be with him and his family.

We (Dave Sherman, Alan & I) just got back home after Paul's funeral. The chapel was full of friends and family and it was a lovely service, complete with music and prayer as well as personal remembrance speeches.
Little known facts about Paul ...
- He was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania, was the youngest of 8 children (5 boys and 3 girls).
- He actively participated in the "Room at the Inn" program with his church - feeding the homeless and helping the needy. He had helped with cook-outs and fund raisers for years and had never missed one of their events.
- He was an auto mechanic with the City of Charlotte and kept the police cars maintained and running. Two of Charlotte's finest stood at attention on either side of his casket during the entire service and at least 10 cops came to pay their respects. Another policeman gave a touching speech during the program.
Paul, as many of you know, believed in helping injured riders and promoted the Wegman Fund as often as he could. Knowing this, anyone who wishes to do so can make a a donation to the Wegman Fund In Memory of Paul Farrell. Also, we plan to have a collection point at all of the remaining CCS SE and MA races through Daytona and will send the pot to the Wegman Fund afterwards in his honor.
The phrase "The Good Die Young" has real meaning for us now. He was "called home", as the pastor put it, and is now where we all hope to be someday.
thanks jeanne. that was beautiful.
