Title: southwest/pacific banquet
Post by: CCSRACER123CCS on November 11, 2003, 02:50:38 PM
This is my first year in CCS and I was wondering what the banquet is about. I would also like to know when ans where the pacific and soutwest region banquets are.

Hey T,

Last year they had it when we went to the initial round at SoW.  we probably won't hear about it at least until our series is over...sometime in December.

Later,
Dave

Not so, Mr. Yeski!  Our fearless leader in the Pacific region, Race Director Jeff Leonard, and his wife have opened a sports bar in California and we are looking at finalizing dates with him to let us rent the place for the night.  More than likely, the Pacific banquet will not be held in conjunction with the first race of next season.  Between now and then: Jeff's bar is really cool--not only is it a sports bar, but there is a men's hair salon in the bar with a TV at each chair and--get this--nitrous something or other to keep your beer cold while your hair's cut.  How cool is that??

Excellent question...I do not have an answer, but I'm pretty sure we can arrange a kick-butt deal with Jeff.

Being a natural blonde...I don't remember.  Duh...free advertising, but I don't know the name...

Now we all know why I'm not in marketing.

I'll call Jeff tomorrow and ask (again).   :P

Ummm, yeah...but I thought I was past all the sandbagging claims.

Two race weekends, very inconsistent laps times....I did chase Kane around for a few laps....BEFORE HE FLAT OUT LEFT ME!!!!  I got 2nd though...my best race last year.

Wasn't the attendance last year pretty lame for the Pacific banquet? If it's separated from a race weekend and we have to travel to So. Cal for it would many people actually go - other than the top 3 in each class?

Is Jeff's place in Rosamond? I'm sure it would be great to have an excuse to go there when there's not a race going on  :-/

Just a thought

Well, Simon, that's the dilema.  His bar is in Bakersfield, so it can't really go on during a race weekend unless we're at Buttonwillow, and that race typically is in the middle of the season.  What do you Pacific riders think?  Would you rather take a weekend in the winter to go hang out with your buddies, or should I schedule it on a race weekend?

Hi Tiff
It's bad enough hanging around with my buddies at a race weekend  ;D

Personally I would like it combined with a race weekend since Streets is a 350 mile drive for me and Bakersfield around 250 miles. I would have gone this year had I known more about it ahead of time so perhaps some additional promotion for the newbies (or future cherry pickers) well ahead of the race weekend would help boost numbers. Oh, and perhaps some organized child minding would be useful as well  ;)

Just my $ 0.02

Please schedule it during a race weekend.  I know with an extra 200 mile drive and alcohol that would mean oh let's not think about it

Does CCS mail awards to those not in attendance?

I am not planning on racing with CCS next year...at least not on any sort of regular basis.

Thanks!

I Fed Ex awards to people who can't make the banquets.  If you can't make it to one region, for example, the PC region, I'll send it to the SW region's banquet.  If it isn't picked up there, I'll ship it from here.  No problem.

I think having the awards banquet on a non-race weekend is a good call.  Means I can drink some of those drinks and not worry about racing the next day.  I am having memories of our first Vegas trip
 :-X

Don't want that again...

Great!  That's exactly what I was wondering.  I won't be able to make it to the Pac banquet, but I'll definitely be at the SW banquet.  Got some trophies of my own to pick up.   8)
