;D
Nice write up... too bad it needed it 4 moths ago :o LOL But I will try if I find my self in that situation again.
I must be doing something wrong, because I always dislocate my shoulder when I tuck the front, and you didn't mention that anywhere...

refer back to "get in real hot"...my shoulder is about 2' off the ground in turn 1. This last time i took a moment to realize i was on the ground. I guess the only benefit of being somewhat fast through this turn, and my knee usually is hitting first :P I have the super duper "wont hurt if i crash" Syed shoulder pad/armour too..
I like to think of my self as an expert on this topic. The key to properly low side on a regular basis is to have a rear spring set for a 160 lb person when you weigh 210. this ensures the front wheel has little or no chance at all of sticking to the track. Now that I figured that out I hope to test my theory next spring. The part I will miss most about low siding on a regular basis is the cool ride back to the pits in the crash truck.

Makes ya feel like a gladiator riding a chariot.. or being on a float in a parade... :)

Every time I took the ride of shame it cost me a friggin t-shirt! I still owe a couple of shirts to Phil! ??? By the way... is it concidered proper to do a victory dance once you get to your feet? 8)
your right it is like riding on a float b/c people on both sides are looking and waving.

I always have that uncomfortable "do i look away and pretend i dont see them or do i act concerned about thier crash..".... :(
On the ride of shame I sit up straight and give the Qeen of England cupped hand wave to all that look as if they've never been there ;D
To help minimize damage to the bike & to make reairs easier I've started coating my front body work in spray rubber under coating. It covers up mediocre fiberglass work and gives the pavement a little extra to chew through. I was considering wall paper but was concerned about it coming off at speed. Yes I know, I'm strange 8)
Hey Greg,
This info would have been helpful in May when I went down trying to chase you @ Moroso LOL , Could have saved me the $ for the forks and triple clamp. Gonna keep the wheel up thing in mind next time. Oh and the ride of shame, I personally like the wave thing too!

Been there...did that.... :)
later James..
Try pulling back on the handlebar right when the front starts to tuck. I did this once and the bike came back up. :o (I did have to pull in to clean my shorts, though) ;D

Heh. You mean like this?

I'm on the left, and Kim's on the right. We crashed in the same corner, in the same race, and both of us were wearing brand new leathers. We were also the only women racers at the track that day, and it was the first crash for both of us. We ended up going by the pits cheering in the crash truck, holding the broken bits of our bikes (that's an MZ fairing chunk in my hand, and Kim has her front brake perch). What can I say...the ladies know how to ride the crash truck with style! 8)
