Im turning 40 on 7/2/04 :o :o, 40 already :o :o, so with that being the middle of the race season can I start in March racing in the F40 class or do I have to wait until I actually turn 40 in july? Does anyone know?
you have to wait until your 40 th b-day
Actually the rule changed last year but never made it into the book. If you turn 40 during the first part of the year 01/01 through 06/30, you can run F40. If not, you have to wait until you are actually that age.
I hope this helps.
Dawn :)
if that is the case, you just missed the class by 2 days ;D
Since im only 2 days off maybe they will let me slide in at the begining of the season. ;) They dont enforce the fuel rules either so i might have a chance. None of you F40 guys would protest me would you? ;D
How bout a f50 class? I didn't start RR till i was 50. :)

Wanna bet on that? >:( :o ;)

...and if they've already slid the date from "begin of season" to June 30, and they slide the date to July 02 - why not slide it to August. In fact, if you're going to turn 40 before you quit racing, why not have the date slid ALLLLLLL the way out?

I know what the proposed change is and Karl and I have both talked to Kevin and Tiff on this and I will tell you like I told them... The "written rules" simply state that... "all participants in Formula 40
must be at least 40 years of age (amateur and expert divisions)" Tiff told me at Gateway that the rules commitie didn't really realize what was being asked of them with the proposed rule change and she said that it was a mistake to change the rules to allow someone thats 39 1/2 to run the class. I would contact Tiff to make sure... But I am pretty certan that the rules have stayed the same. Gotta be 40 to run in this class. PERIOD. Tiff... whats the call on this from the main office?

I'm "Schocked" that you would even ask... ;)
I vote for a F50 class too! I didn't start roadracing until I was 57. Wait a minute, I am 57! I just started road racing. No, you can't race with me.... wait till your 40, there's enough of you young whippersnappers in our class. PROTEST! ;D
Hey Doug. You made that post at 3:33! ;D Thanks for the nod! ;)

The "K3" Rule. It was only here for a short time. R.I.P. :'(

Whaaa haaaa haaa haaa....
How can you NOT know what that rule implied?
Sorry, I don't buy that reason. I think they approved it, got a bunch of heat because of it, and said "oops!" and are changing it back.
Dawn ;)

K-3 now don't get me involed with something that I didn't have anything to do with. I didn't race against you and I don't care if you were 38.

LOL!!!!!
Craig, I believe that he was referring to the other one.
Dawn ;)
Sounds like they should just open the class to everyone... ;)
You can be sure the rule will be very clearly worded as to what the cutoff date is for eligibility. Discussions of possible changes in rules complicated the issue.
possible scenarios cutoff Jan 1 of the current year, the race date, any time during race weekend, middle of year (6/30) or any time during current year.

Eric, Chris look how many post you made on this one... more 333! ;D

Oh Craig. It's all good between you and I. (Actually, I was 36, but don't tell anyone.) I just loved it when you told your brother, "Stop whining about when his birthday was. If he pisses you off, go out there and beat him!" Man, I was rolling on the floor... ;D ;D ;D

Nooooooooooooooooooo! :'( ;)

Okay, I'll admit it. That would make three of us in an F50 class. I wasn't going to tell Dawn she missed my B-day but it was last Saturday, 11/01. I expect the AARP card any day now.
:'( ;D :'( ;D
F 40 class is getting to large to run combined. How bout splitting the experts and am?

In the Great Plains and Great Lakes regions, the F40 class draws 5 or 6 amateurs and experts at each race. Perfect size I think. A couple times this season they did a two wave start. For the most part it kept the fast am's from battling with the experts.

MW has some pretty large grids sometimes.

MW also runs like 15 times a year at Blackhawk . must be all those old people in Wisconsin . ;)
I wonder what Mongo thinks of the F40 class. ::)
;D :-X running for cover....

I agree or at least do all races with separate ex/am waive starts.

I believe he already expressed his viewpoint there...

Sorry, I didn't see that he addressed F40 in particular. I just think it's funny that he thinks if you're not racing against the fastest of the fastest then you're not racing. ::) His loss.
Here you go, Jack. Lifted from post 117 of the "Pros stealing bla bla bla" thread.
"I also don't like powder puff classes and I don't like the over 40 classes. It's giving people something they can't earn in the real world or in this case the real race classes. If people really want a championship trophy they can't earn on their own talent or skill then email me and I'll hook you up with our trophy company, it'll be a lot cheaper and the end result is the same."
Mongo is an intelligent guy, and a worthy foe in a debate. I hope to meet him some day. We might even turn out to be friends. But he sure doesn't worry too much about offending people, does he? I about died laughing when I accused him of having a "condescending attitude" and he DENIED IT! ;D :D ;D :D ;D

I know, sorry I didn't pitch in, but I'm glad you called him on it.
Oh, by the way Jack. Please try to e mail me again. I never seem to get replies from you, and I know from past experience that you're good at replying to inqueries.. Maybe I've accidentally blocked you somehow. Anyhow, I'm trying to spend money with you, and it's not working! >:(
OK, just sent one to your AOL address. I haven't received anything from you for a long time.
You mean to tell me after discovering road racing at the tender age of 57, and spending all that money on bikes, trailers, spares, tires and sh*t, I coulda just emailed Mongo and he would have told me where I can get wood? Ya know, you guys coulda clued me in earlier. Talk about bustin my bubble. I'm goin over to WERA and un-CORC a few just for that! ;D
Calendars Jack?
