I don't know if this has been covered before or not, so here goes.
What is the purpose of twin sprint weekends? I am certain that the $ is atop the list, but is there any other reason?
I see that it is not at every track, however some tracks only have twin sprints (ie Roebling). Besides the people taking checks, is there anyone who enjoys have races cut down in laps and no GT races?
And I suppose the upcoming season will be similar to the last season in regards to TS and Florida region rules.!?
Twin sprint, yeah, it does have to do with money.
Often the twin sprint tracks are a long way away from the "hub" of the region, so to make it worth the drive, it becomes a "twin sprint" event...kind of like having two race weekends in one with only one time travel costs.
Sometimes, it's just an expensive track...ala Road America.

This doesn't seem to wash. Roebling is a lot more central to the SE region than VIR is, yet Roebling had TS and VIR did not. AND I'm pretty sure Roebling is less expensive than VIR, too.
OTOH, I kind of like the Twin Sprints weekends. Same amount of time off work, more racing. And I don't recall the races having less laps than usual. Just no GT races.

But VIR was a double points weekend

Twin Sprints in my opinion:
Good;
less overall cost for track time due to cheaper entry fees and less travel/hotel costs.
Bad;
A T/S event is kinda like 2 events in 1, yet the MW Regions had a full schedule as it was with several T/S Events on top of it.
If following certain classes toward championship(s) your forced to run twice the number of sprints in 1 event than you originally planned on. I ran 4 classes all season, at T/S events I had to run 8 if I wanted to stay in the points.
A greater chance of missing individual classes. If you have some misfortune during the event, or can't attend that 1 event for some reason, it is very easy to permanantly kiss your position in a class championship good-bye. This is similar to Double points events, where missing or having problems at 1 event can blow your entire season (the 100 points you would get for a 5th place finish at a double points event is pretty difficult to make up in that class over the rest of the season).
In my opinion, if we're going to have T/S Events, they should be looked at as 2 events in 1 when scheduling the season. Of the 16 events this year in the MW/GP/GL Regions there were 7 regular events, 4 Twin Sprint events, and 5 double points events. To me it was more like 20 events as far as number of individual class races run, that's quite a bit for 1 season.

Yeah, it was horrible. Every week. Was really bad when I was off as a consultant at AMA Superbike events on the weekends that I had off. Just now remembering what my house looks like,
