Title: SV Gearing for VIR?
Post by: MACOP1104 on September 02, 2003, 04:24:42 AM
Can anybody get me in the ballpark for gearing at VIR?  Also, what is a good laptime for lightweight supersport amateur?  Thanks......

north course

well i dunno of teeth values for an SV but plan on 160 mph at least, you bomb down that front straight pretty good before braking your life away for turn1.

if you can turn anything sub40's you are kicking some ass

15-44/45 depending on rider and drive out of 17. If it's your first time and you get in the high 1:40's your doing ok, regular am run 1:40's flat

Running 160 on a SV? jp233 here is smokin' some serious crack if he thinks he can get an SV to do 160mph at VIR.

You will be OK with stock gearing 15/45

Uh.....if you are doing 160+ on an SV....then you have a TL1000R motor in it.  Hell...even my SV isn't gonna do 160.  Stock is probably doing 135ish.

And yeah...the last time there I was able to run consistant 36's on mine.  :)  Come on Bad Monkey...heal up so's I can spank ya!!!  Hehehe

Hey MudDawg, if you can drop 4sec on your little SV you could make the AMA superbike field next year on a SV. Come on now you you can do a 1.36 at VIR on an SV.  ;D

He's not making it up, there's a few of us that are doing it. By next year I'm sure will be in the 35's. And yes my monkey misses being spanked... ::) ::) ::)

Uh....3rd in FUSA last time there...thunderbike class.  If I'd have know I was that far up I'd have pushed and gone past the 2nd place guy.  (Too many slides early on....so I backed off to 1:37's)  Not horrible for a guy who has only been on the track 4 times this year.

And I agree with Monkey-Boy....35's are doable.  And yeah....on my superbike SV.  I'll see what I can do on the supersport SV next year as well.  I only rode that twice this year.  Once with zero practice.

Oh yeah...gearing

Supersport SV at VIR 15/45. (72 hp?)
Superbike SV 15/43 (90+ hp)

Hey Keener, you could always come spank my monkey!!!!!

If I remember correctly, I had amid to high 38 flash across the timer on my SS SV last time there, so putting in laps in that bracket is possible on an SV. :-*

38's should be pretty easy on an SS SV.  I'm thinking 35's on the SB and 36's on the SS should be doable next year.  It's certainly not a hp track.

And yeah...I'm already jonesing to ride again!!!

Iv'e been jonezing bad :-/ BadMonkey dyno tuned the SV for me and man what a difference. I was able to do a track day last monday at VIR to try it out. At the end of the second session my Akropovic Titanium exhaust can came apart and blew in half. Needless to say.... The bike was running real good, I was feeling real good, and my day was cut short. The new can has come in, and I will be ready to stay right on the ass of MudDawg. That's right MudDawg!!! :o

Does anyone here have a tow strap I can borrow? ;D

I can't wait till VIR this month :o

Nope...not racing again on the track until the spring.
As Big Cheese....er...bMac....alluded too...I'm about to become a father.  Should be tomorrow (Friday 9/5).  We are going in to induce labor.  The wife wants drugs nearby at all times.  :-)

We'll have people over...but so far we just moved into the new house last weekend....and now have a rugrat about to show up.  Been a busy month ya know?

Cheeseburgers & Coronas?  Hmmm....so what's the bet gonna be? Who laps Boner first?  heheheheh

you guys will need to wick it up a tad at vir, bradley champion ran 33's there on a cup spec sv, both he and dave yaakov. the entire race. they finished 1-2 in national lightweight twins.

nah, just wait till he crashes, and wera racers must be faster cause Yaakov was only running 37's with us lowly ccs'ers at vir for the FUSA weekend. ;D
