Here's your chance to be part of the banquet committee. Where would you like your banquet? What costs are you willing to incur? At all of these cities, the average cost for a banquet including everything will run about $30 pp. Like I said, I need these results by Thursday so I can make a decision with y'all in mind.
Thank you! :D
Now that I am living in Detroit, I'd prefer Chicago over Milwaukee (2 fewer hours of driving).
Come on guys, VOTE!!! 53 views and 9 votes? Come on!
Rock the vote..dunna na na na na na...Rock the boat...dunna na na na na nana..."
Okay, sing that along to the "Rock the Boat" lyrics of the late 70s, and you'll get it.
;)
Dawn, can we make this sticky?
I voted....I voted....don't yell..... ;D
Sorry, I was trying to help those Formula 40 riders...
;D
Just kidding!
I used to live in Chicago... can I vote twice? :P
Thanks, Tiff... that song has been playing 'round and 'round in my head all afternoon.... :D
Mine too! I watched VH1's "I Love the 70s", volumes 1-10 ALL FREAKIN WEEKEND! It was actually really interesting...only bad part is that I wasn't born until 1981, so Eric had to explain a lot to me.
Maybe with some details on here some people would be willing to get quotes for you from various establishments around the Chicago, Milwaukee area. Approximate number of people, what type of menu you want, etc.
Where are the majority of the regions riders based? I assume this will be a triple region banquet? Finding the center of the rider population area could help determine a central location convenient for most.
I don't think downtown Milwaukee is the place. There are several places in the surrounding area that could work. Like downtown Chicago, parking, hotels and such are a pain. Much easier than Chicago but still a pain.
What happened to the people that volunteered to do the banquet this year? I know Jack backed out for his own reasons but there were others that said they were willing to work on it.

I volunteered on here to help find a place if it was going to be in the Rockford area, but not to actually do all the other stuff. I am not experienced with banquet planning and only offered to help in the location find if needed. :)
I'm in for the Clocktower. That place is NICE! I'll bet if we hold it there once, it will become a tradition.
Does this include the GP region also? Or do I have to go to two banquets?
First, I cannot seem to vote...
Second, when the banquet is would sway my position.
I tried to vote for the Clocktower Resort, so if you could add my vote...
I have gotten quotes from 8+ facilities all over the midwest. I'm keeping the price at $30pp, with a sit-down dinner. Our (MW/GL) rider base is primarily in Illinois and Wisconsin. So, it's a toss up. We have to keep in mind that although most of our riders do not live in Michigan, there are quite a few, and this is also the GL banquet. That's why I thought Chicago was a fair place for everyone to meet up. On the other hand, having it anywhere but Chicago would be cheaper in terms of parking expense. The only real difference in location would mean a difference in cost for parking and convenience in getting to and from the banquet. As for the weekend, if the banquet is held in Chicago (or possibly even Rockford), we will more than likely repeat the bike show weekend.
FYI--The GP banquet will be held separately.
I live in Rockford and yet I am considered GP Region this year for the 1st time (I was always MW in the past), this still confuses me? :-/
So Tiffiney, when and where is the GP Region banquet going to be then?
..... or, if we win a championship in the GP region, can we request to have the trophy brought to the MW/GL banquet?
Dawn :)
What region you're assigned to is based on what state and area code you live in. But, that doesn't mandate where you get points. You can live in Florida and compete and win a championship in the Pacific region. It's all about where you race. As for the trophies, I'm sure we can work something out, but it's a little to early to say for sure.
These votes are pretty close...you guys that said "other", what is your opinion?

The main reason I was questioning the Regional assignment was due to competition numbers. In the event of multiple racers having the same number at a race, the person who has that # in that tracks regional designation is the one that (usually) gets to use it, any others will have to put an 'X' or extra # on their bike(s) number plates. This isn't really that big of a deal, but it seems strange that I live in the same county as BHF and it's considered MW Region and I am considered GP. Typically about half of the MW Region races are run at BHF each season, so that means that I would be the one having to change my plate back and forth at almost every event. Most of the time there wouldn't be conflicts in #'s outside of the top 10 and popular #'s, but I am most likely going to have a top 10 in the GP region for next year, so this is just me thinking ahead.
Seems to me that BHF should be GP Region also?
I will get off my soap box now Tiffiney, I just wanted you to know why I was questioning it. :)
QuoteIFYI--The GP banquet will be held separately.
How about have it in Alabama? :P
So Tiffiney, did you come up with a solution to the MW/GL banquet location? :)
