Title: Any update on David Yeski?
Post by: Team_nuclear123 on August 05, 2003, 01:05:10 PM
Saw the crash, and saw him get carted away, but no one knew what the outcome was, and if he was ok.

Nasty crash though.

Kinda sucks that they have concrete blocks and chain link fence so close to the track. Tristans lil runoff ended up being a destroyed tank because of one of the fences less then 40ft off the edge of the track.

I heard there were a lot of crashes that weekend but was hoping that no one got hurt.  Where did the crash take place?  I thought that track was fun last year when I raced on it and didn't really notice to many hard objects close to the track but now that I think about it there is quite a bit of fencing that you can easily get caught up in...

He went off in turn 4 and I think he hit a fence or barrier?

Post by: Team_nuclear123 on August 05, 2003, 04:36:32 PM
He ran off in the turn three area, and jumped off the bike to avoid hitting the concrete barriers.

There were WAY to many crashes, it was just hottttt, and people were trying really hard. Hell, just from here, Tristan, Dave, and Mickey all tested leather...

We had two races that were red flagged twice!!

If anyone has an update on Dave, please let us know...

Will & Tristan

Good chattin' with you guys at the track.   :)

Yeah, the red flags really seemed to be "contagious".  Once thrown in a race, it seemed like there was always another one soon thereafter.  :-/

You guys gonna make it up to Thunderhill?

Sounds good man.  Didn't see the truck you were talkin' about though.  Those big Fords are sweet. Love my F250 crew cab. ;D  If the motor is stock, grab a SuperChips microtuner for it (you'll love it).

Hell yes, I'll be at Thunderhill! ;D  See you guys there.

The truck is pretty cool

Diesel Dynamics tuned with about 450hp, exhaust all the goodies. (I started out a Peterbilt tech years ago)

Lowered like 8inches, DVD, 1000watts, all flamed, shoudl be cool... Just need to get it bagged to haul our 26ft trailer.

Dave, its at Thunderhill. It will be Tristans first time there. I just got his new leathers from Alpinestars fed ex yester, way cool! Shoudl be a good weekend, and a hell of a lot less races... We did 18 total at Vegas in three days. You DONT want to see the tire bill!

Why would anyone do this?  Why take a perfectly good truck and destroy it?  I'm not talking the stereo and dvd, etc, but why lower it and remove any hauling ability the truck had?

Sure you can put in airbags, but I still don't understand taking a truck designed to haul/tow and dropping it to the pavement, then making provisions so it can tow again...

Well, lets see, ruin it huh?

I load about 400 different bikes a year in my truck. We do somewhere around 50 trrack days a year.

Lowered serves the purpose of making it easier to load, safer to drive, and has ZERO effect on the load carring ability, as the stock springs are in place all around.

More like built to a purpose to me.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.  :)

I'm sore, but I'll recover...mostly.  I guess a herniated disc is like herpes, you got it fo' life man.

Right now my diet consist of Oxycotton, Percocet, and Soma (muscule relaxer).   I get to wear a back brace too.

After the 12 hour ride home (should have been 10, but the F-I-L was driving)  I ended up BACK in the hospital on Tuesday (via ambulance) 'cuz it hurt to do anything and I couldn't move.

This puts a reality spin on whether I should continue racing or not.  Tough call.  I have a 2 year old to live for and I would like to be able to play with her for the rest of her life.  Sorry for the pitty party, but I just missed being shoulder deep into the concrete blocks by 6 inches.  :-/  I never thought that the blocks and the fence were a factor 'til then.

I ended up with a Herniated disc between L3 and L4, 2 broken ribs on my back (11 and 12, I think), and although they didn't confirm, I think I have damaged ribs in my upper lft chest (at least bruised if not broken).

If you guys are up for the details, I'll get them to you on a different posting.

Thanks again for the well wishes.

I know what broken ribs are like.  No fun at all.  You quickly realize how EVERY movement you make involves stress on the ribs....OW!

Hang in there man!

Dave, I hope you heal fast and feel better. I know you feel, both your body and your head. I was a bit more fortunate, broke pelvis but not ribs, so as long as I was laying in bed, nothing hurted. But as I was lying in the ambulance, I thought of all the good things I would have missed if I broke my spine... kinda make you think long and hard about racing.

But I took my crazy ass out again and got smushed again... well what can you say

Just get well, and think about all others later. I was looking forward to racing in Daytona

Dave,

Glad to hear you are out and ok, of sorts...

I have two herniated disks in my back, and you just live with it, but it does make you a LOT more susceptible to having your back go out, do all sorts of physical therapy.

Between the wall and the fence, Im sorta pissed that we have to race there. The first thing I thought when I saw you bail off was that you were gonna hit that wall.

Tristan said he had a ball following you around and watching you slide all over in the semi rain race on friday, and it looked like you were gonna give him a run for it sat and sunday too.

Hope you get well, and hang in there you can race and still have your lil one, mine's 18mo, and shes what keeps me sane....

Will, Tristan, and Team Nuclear

Dave,

Glad to hear that you didn't do too much damage to yourself but I'm kinda bummed you haven't told us how the bike is yet  ;D.  As Will stated, you will probably want to at least consult a phyical therapist and although I have no experience with one, there is a place called Team Extreme Fitness here in Tucson that is active in the motocross scene.  If you would like I can get you some contact information.

here's an article written by them that you may want to read

Thanks for the article John.  And thanks again to everyone for their support.  You people are the very reason that I DON'T want to leave the sport.

So I won't, yet. But I'll get to that later.

I'm starting another post about the crash.  There I'll detail (somewhat) on the situation.  I'll also give you guys my itinerary for racing.

See you there.

D. Dave

Yeah... there was some serious flat-tracking going on in that GTU.  I can't think of one corner in those last laps where I didn't lose one end or the other...or both.  I kept telling myself to slow the pace down.  I did, but only by 2 seconds!!!

 ;D

Yeah, I was watching that race closely.  After some people started going down, I cringed as I watched you and Tristan come blasting down the front straight into turn 1.  I saw you lose the rear but get it back...what a race! ;D
