Title: July 19-20 BHF event
Post by: GSXR RACER MIKE on July 12, 2003, 10:10:52 AM
I was just looking at the schedule for the year and noticed that the upcoming BHF event is only a single region event (MW) and wondered how many people are going to that event? I was noticing in my notes that the last single region event there (May 10-11) was raining and cool and had a low turnout. Hopefully the turnout will be somewhat better due to more fair weather riders showing up and also new riders entering CCS. It suprises me that this is not a double points event to attract more riders, even though the upcoming HP event is 2X points, double region (MW & GL but not GP?), and combined with FUSA.

Either way, I'm going to be there. Does anyone know if they paved the pits yet? Riding on that crushed rock kinda sucked!

We should be there.....

The last time we were there in May 31st - June 1st, the pits were not paved.  However, there was a pretty good turn out of racers.

Dawn   :)

Mike, I dont thing the pits will be paved this year (if at all). They really need to get a steam roller out there and compact the crushed grindings down.

See ya there and dont run me over. ;D

The pits seem to be getting flatter with use.

We'll be there - I can't wait to see everyone again!!

Speaking of the weather, for those that don't know, Rockford (which is right near BHF) had an intense storm come thru when we were all at MAM over the 4th of July that caused massive damage to the area. This damage was believed to have been caused by a 'Microburst' packing winds of 100 MPH! This happened at 4:30am on Saturday July 5 and caused the majority of all the damage inside of 5 minutes! There were so many trees down that many streets were impassable and over 60,000 customers were without power, some for up to 6 days. Rockford was even featured on CNN and the Weather Channel this week.

The damage was very focused on Rockford and I don't believe that BHF got any of it. We've been having storm after storm since then, so hopefully Mother Nature will have it out of her system by the time the upcoming BHF event rolls around.

Great, I'll look for you!  Yeah, it's been a crazy season so far. Looks like I'll be traveling a little less after the next few days, that will be nice. But I leave today for Mid Ohio 14,15. Then Dave's school 17th, CCS 19-20, and then Torque Center the 22nd. :)

Jack, If this isn't too nosey, is this what you do for a major source of income? I noticed that you do alot of dates for alot of different organizations and groups. I bet you get alot of buyers from the 'track day' street rider guys. Either way the work I have seen of yours is excellent!

I want to buy a couple of event disks from you and figure I will wait until after this upcoming BHF event so I can include that event too in my order.

     See you there!  ;D

I will be at Grattan for the WERA National.  Gotta get there and plug the auction on Aug. 23rd at BHF.

It helps to show my face at some other places than Blackhawk.

If anyone needs info on the auction for contributors please contact me. ;D

Yeah Dave, had a series of heart attacks Sunday at MAM.  Really wanted to do your school on Thursday, but I don't think I'll push that hard yet.  See ya all Friday evening.

Sorry, just got back from Mid-Ohio. That was fun!

No problem, it's not my source of income, it's more my addiction.  ;D  I'm lucky, I "usually" make enough at my regular work that I can afford to travel, take pics, and play a bit. Yes, street and trackday riders seem more interested in photos and I get to ride at those events, but I miss watching you guys race and all the friends I've met at the track, so I'm excited about the weekend.

See you there.

Well I have been thrown a curve ball to interfere with my racing (if you can call my results racing). This morning I tweaked my back pretty bad, but thought I was still ok to go to work, so I did (no pre-existing back prob's). Was that ever the wrong decision, ended up being 9 hours of hell before finally leaving early and going to get it checked out. My lower back was giving me such intense pain today that I could barely walk and it took me almost 10 minutes just to get into my truck to drive to the clinic. After examination and multiple x-rays I found out my lower spine is all FUBAR'd and I am currently on FLEXERIL, VICODIN, and ALEVE to get some relief.

Too early to tell how long it's going to be before I can get back on a bike. For now, I will be happy to be able to walk normal and sit down again. BHF this weekend isn't looking like a possibility for me now, but maybe I will still be able to make HP in 3 1/2 weeks. Looks like a fairly nice weekend coming up, so the rest of you have fun!
