Title: Akrapovic Slip On Slips On Too Easily
Post by: ceesthadees on May 29, 2002, 06:27:41 PM
I have an R6 with a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust. I bought the bike with a crash or two on the right side of the bike and have added a couple of my own.

The slip-on is now too loose as it slips over the header pipe.

Should I try to expand the header pipe, or squeeze the slip-on hole?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, both by me and the nervous riders behind me :-/

Shim it. Get an aluminum can and cut a shim from the metal. Wrap the aluminum around the pipe and then use a hose clamp on the can. The aluminum is soft and the will conform to the pipe.

Thanks for the advice. I am heading to the shop to try it right now.

Thanks for the advice. The shim and REALLY cranking down on the clamp seems to have done it.

Would you leave the clamp on?
