Title: Ok question about 208GP or 208GP A-Spec
Post by: lbk on May 27, 2003, 09:02:48 AM
I know the difference between the two, but I want to hear from those that have run both. How noticable is the difference between the tires, and at what pace? I'm curious because I'm just starting this year, and don't run blistering paces so I'm thinking the regular 208GP's might be sufficient for me. But I had the A-Specs before and liked those, so the idea of going to a tire with less traction scares me a bit.

Anyone have advice?

If you are an amateur starting out this year then the 208 vs 208A will not mean squat.  Compare what you are doing to what Miguel, Nickey, Gobert and Zemke did last year on the 208.  If it did OK for them, it will be more than enough for you.

Personally, I feel the 208A is a bit stickier and lasts a bit longer and I can feel the difference.  Or maybe I just think I can.  I'm about 2 seconds off the leading experts in the FL region so I am not that slow. The "A" just gives me that little bit extra-maybe its just confidence-to brake a little later and push a little harder.
