Title: Anybody else watch American Idol last night?
Post by: MightyDuc Racing on May 22, 2003, 12:06:35 PM
My wife always watches it and I catch some of them.  I liked both finalists, and thought Ruben was probably the better singer.  Anyways, did anybody else notice that Kelly Clarkson looked like she put on like 20+ pounds, all in the hips?  Not that it's a big deal, but I woulda figured the recording people and all the agents, etc, woulda had her on a strict diet/workout routine.  Kinda cool that the finalists weren't all Brittney Spears/Justin Timberlake looking, and that last years winner looks like a real person not a movie star.

I'm staying far away from that ticking time bomb you call a bike.

I'm going to have to get a lot better at my starts.  My starts look like the one you posted of yourself, except replace me with the rest of the field in your video, and replace you in the video with the rest of the field in my races.  Once I get going, I'm okay.  LOL   ::)

Practice makes perfect...lol.  Just don't burn up the clutch trying to get it right. ;)  Melk-Man and Scuba Steve seem to get good starts too, and I am assuming that it's from the fact that they raced in the dirt first like me.  Go to the dragstrip and practice.  It's all in the throttle hand, not so much the clutch.  Now that's all the tips I'm giving up. ;D  Oh yeah, there may be a tiny bit of rear brake involved occasionally, but I'm not saying when or how much. ;D

;D  By the way, if I hit a tree at Daytona, I must be in BIG trouble, cuz I'd have to jump the wall and go down the giant hill around the track to hit a tree.  The hill part wouldn't be a problem, practiced that already, but the wall might just be the stopper. ;D  Berm Duck....damn you Henry!!!! @#$%@#@ ;D

You know, American Idol kinda bummed me out.  Both guys were good, but I didn't have a favorite.  Nobody to root for.  I figured Rueben would win, I mean come on, he has a great R&B voice.  Clay would be awesome on Broadway--I can see him starring in "Cats" or something.  I think Kelly looked great-I didn't notice a change.  That Kimberly Locke girl though...she's on my list.  I don't really care for her "I'm still better than those guys" attitude.  I have to admit, I fell asleep during it.  Did anybody see the Academy of Country Music Awards?  Now that was entertaining--any time the Dixie Chicks were mentioned the crowd went nuts booing, and when the Chicks performed (via satellite, due to fear of being roughed up by wanna-be cowboys in tuxs, I'm sure), Natalie had a "FUTK" shirt on.  That translates to "FU" Toby Keith.  Not pretty.  All in all, it was like Jerry Springer but with millionaires and Texas accents.

OK, Kris, I applied for my race license so I guess it's getting close to time to take our 51's to FL and clothesline the Berm Duck.  ;D  ;D

Ahhhh...the clothesline.  Brings back memories of the high school football. ;D  Bring them Honda's to FL already so I can show you what the back of a Ducati looks like off in the distance. 8) ;D

lol.. back to the subject at hand...

Hate to admit that I actually watched the show a couple of times, but...

I *knew* Clay was going to win this since the day he walked into the audition.  It just blew me away that this total DORK looking dude had such an incredible voice.

No surprise that it came down to Clay / Ruben, they were both great.  Ruben is awesome, but Luther Vandross already exists...

Clay on the other hand had incredible range and depth.  The guy could adapt to anything and was absolutely amazing in my opinion.

It'll be neat to watch and see how the future treats the two of them.  I'd like to see Clay on Broadway...  I'm betting that Clay will be more of a success long-term than Ruben simply becuase of the versatility.

In any event, I think both of them have exceptional talent...
