Title: Competitive Motard/Classes
Post by: richmeyer on August 04, 2015, 06:42:43 PM
Hey guys, I'm new to CCS, I've typically stuck to twins but was thinking of a Motard for some of the tighter tracks like Blackhawk. Looks like a 250 4stroke would fit in Moto 3 and Ultralight Thunderbike. Is anyone racing motards in these classes typically? What other bike/class combos should I consider?

Thanks!

I think they have dumped the 450 super moto's in the Ultra Light weight class before.

FWIW, AHRMA put the class on probation a while back.  Not because of a bad thing, just a numbers thing.

There was a 450 super moto that was gridded in 500SS. It wasn't SS legal, so he was disqualified. That thing and rider were stupid fast. 500SS was gridded behind a LW class. The super moto passed the LW class leaders, and they were running 21s.

So I'm curious if a 250 4T would be closer to the ULSB guys.

250 dirtbike, nope.  Slower than those since most of Ultralight SB grid is SVs.   250 Moriwakis on the other hand are faster than most of the SVs.

Yeah, but that was with an exceptional rider on the bike. 😊
