Post by: hdpromos on June 02, 2015, 11:56:59 AM
CCS/Florida will now run the 500 Supersport (Combined) class at all events.
It will run in race #16 with Lightweight Superbike (EX/AM Split).

Oh yeah, about february....   High side on an SV the first practice of the year left me with two broken wrists, broken thumb, torn pec and detached lat.
So back to the 500SS class.  I was told it was a two year experiment, so what's the verdict?  Will it be around next year?

I sure as hell hope so!!! I remember that 2 year thing also, and got a little concerned. The true LW/LW classes/grids are finally growing up here,so it would be a damn shame to get rid of it now.

I received responses from Kevin Elliot and Henry D that the 500SS class will be offered again next year for CCS and CCS Florida.

Personally I think 500ss should be removed. My teammate ran it for 2 years (not full seasons) on his cbr500r. There was MAYBE 1 other 500 at one other race. Other times we would see someone on a 500 practice but not race. We only made 4 races last year and he was able to get 2nd 500ss amateur in florida, behind a ninja250 or 300 that ran the class all season. Also a well prepped 300 will accelerate just as fast as a stock motor 500. Anyways long story short, he sold it and bought an SV650. As far as we know there are no other 500's racing in FL anymore.
