Title: Thanks!
Post by: K3 Chris Onwiler on May 11, 2003, 03:28:27 AM
Damn.  Rough day at the office.  I endo'd my bike at Blackhawk this weekend, pitching myself headfirst over the bars and having the bike land on top of me.  Let me tell you, that's a hard way to get off. :P  I'll survive, but right now I'm one giant bruise.
I owe a round of thanks for this weekend, starting with Pam, Jan, and the other worker on Seven, and Ozzie in the crash truck.  Then there would be Paul Buxton and Ron Springfloat putting the bike back together, and Webmistriss Dawn Buxton and Kim Olson packing up my rig so I could go home to lick my wounds.  Also, thanks to the many who came over and offered kind and not-so-kind words while I lay writhing in agony.  Your pity and sick humor was most appreciated.
Finally, a big thank you to Suomy helmets for saving my life and handsome face, Alexa from Spyder Leatherworks for giving me a logo so aggressive that I tried killing myself to live up to it, and to Eddie Bingham for viciously sawing me off and forcing me to crash! ;D  (Hey, that couldn't possibly have been my fault!)
Anyhow, it's good to be able to go to the track alone and know that the community will look out for you if you get hurt!  Thanks everybody!
K3

Ouch, Chris, glad you are relatively OK!

Do tell, how do you endo during a race?  I almost did when my brake lever punched a hole in another bike's fairing.....

You guys see the Gabe Palmer video on my website.  Endo'd at Moroso when his brake lever hit another bike.

I've almost done it just by being to aggressive on the brakes.  You know the deal. The guy you are racing is 100ft in front and you try to make up the whole distance on the brakes. I did that at the last race at VIR going up to turn 7. Back wheel came up for a while but a couldn't get it back down in time to make the turn, so straight off I went.  You know come to think of it, I did that twice that weekend.  :-/

Glad to hear you are okay K3

I am also very glad to hear how some many people helped you out afterwards...
I for one will be at G-man MAM and BHF all month with out a pit hand.. and that gave me a scare onto its self today... needless to say I opted not to race Superbikes as I was not on Rains and I was to worried about crashing cuz of it. :-[

It was the first lap of the race.  I was in third, and a bit more agressive than the guy I was after.  I tried to stick a wheel in where it wouldn't fit, hit a rumble strip, got airborne, and landed way deep into the braking zone.  The stoppie started immediately, but I endo'd when he turned in.  It was that or T-bone him.  Eddie's my friend, and somehow I couldn't bring myself to cripple him for life...

Was that GTO or MW GP?
I remember the announcer saying that you went down.

White is tougher.  It was in F40.  You know, the safe class for the geezers...

Yeah, the ol'guy slow class nobody tries too hard in.....RIGHT! Glad you're OK or at least going to be. It takes a little longer to heal now so start streaching!

Dude, you're gonna give me a bad rap!  :o Honestly, glad you're almost ok. Next time I'm puttin' a freakin' teddy bear on your back.  ;) (Remember, bears have evil teeth too.) ;D Rest up, heal up, and more over, keep it sunny side up!

K3, sorry to hear about the belly flop. Not that it surprises me though... ;D (you know why I am saying that)...

Alexa, maybe instead of a Teddy Bear, you should put a turtle on his back.

A turtle?  Isn't that what a back protector is?  :)

K3,
Sorry to here about the crash.  Glad you're at least in one piece.  Heal up soon buddy.

Maybe, in light of your less-than-successful engine program, you should replace the stars on your back with a supernova.  Better yet, how about a black hole? ;D

Took today off work and went to see the chiropractor.  Much better.  At least he turned off the constant 20 megaton headache!!!

LOL!!!

Paul made an appointment today also, but that's just because he's an old man.   ;D

Glad to hear you are getting better, I was worried all weekend.

As I'm checking the points standings...  Hmmm I'm not anywhere near leading F/40 this year.

::) Passing the buck...

Oh, let me know if you need the Yosh pipe.

Chris, just thought you'd like to know that Pam got cornerworker of the event.
Title: Re: Thanks!
Post by: K3 Chris Onwiler on May 13, 2003, 03:10:47 AM
Nice to know that I was able to give Pam some wood! ;D ;D ;D

She did do a fine job.  Got to me 10 seconds after the last bike passed, steadied me as I limped across to the station, and cleared my bike from the impact zone in a heartbeat.  I hate it when I give my friends the corner workers yet another chance to shine!   :o

Yes, but you're an Ed from Mini-nad-sota, and those are the only people in the race who I really NEED to beat. ;D  Hey.  We all have our reasons for racing...
My pipe is OK, but that Yosh makes a tempting spare.

It looks like maybe Edgrrrrrrrr and I should team up?
Or perhaps Ed Key could move to MN?

Instead of the 3 Amigo's we could be Ed, Edd and Eddie?

I will pack the pipe anyway so you can look at it if you get things set up in time for MAM and make the races.

Feeling better today? :)

Got my pile of GSXR junk parts stripped last night.  (Ever pull a motor with 2 sprained wrists, 1 sprained ankle, a bleeding knee and elbow, and a back that won't bend?)  If I can make 1 head out of 3, buy 1 piston, 4 sets of rings, a set of bearings and a gasket set, I just might have something to race.  So yes, I'm feeling much better! :D

Yes Jack, I did. :(  Lex is trying to fix them as we speak.  At least you immortalized them before I wasted them.  BTW, I need to buy two copies of that shot.  One for me, and one for Lex.

Yes, but it's getting better day by day. I worked Tuesady, and have another Chiropractic apointment tonight after work.  I should be able to race by Saturday, but don't know if I'll have anything to ride by then.

And I'll post it on the site. It's all good, your leathers aren't as bad as you would think by the crash. Did you tell everyone that they were...VANSONS! Yeah, those damn things are iron. And you didn't even scuff up the cuddly little K3 too badly. ;)

Ten hours until my first practice, I can finally say that I will be making it to Gingerman.  I just finished putting teammate Joe's bike back together after it's Road America explosion.  He can't make it due to work, and my new/used GSXR is in a million pieces, so Joe has loaned me his bike for the weekend.  It's good to have friends.
I'll just have to be careful dragging that bruised right knee, and try not to touch the ground with anything else...
