Title: Roebling Road race weekend reviews
Post by: Doublea on March 10, 2014, 06:45:51 AM
I had a blast this weekend at RRR- thanks to all the tech inspectors, corner workers, and medical staff that made it all as safe as possible. Aside from the multitude of red/med-flagged races, I think things moved along pretty well.

I don't know if many of you guys saw some of the lightweight battles, but it was pack racing at its best- those Florida EX250's were dicing it with some of the SV's! That, plus 'old man' Cardenas playing professor with Mesa made for an honest 2 days of action ;).

Not to mention the turnout! I think things are starting to look up for the club racing scene, because the raceway was jam packed. Grids were full, and the racing was awesome.

Let's get some of your opinions- it was my first time to the track, so I have no idea if it was an improvement over last year. Not much runoff room, but the track itself is a hell of a ride.

Hope everyone got home safe..
Cheers-
**PS- any update on the kid airlifted out on Saturday?

amazing turnout ! big grids, some were 2 wave starts. Not Ex/Am, i mean TWO WAVE starts. Makes ya wanna pre-register when possible :)

I agree RRR does not have a ton of run off room in every corner, but it has a lot more than some tracks. Best option.. stay ON the track at all cost and that is good advice for any track you visit.
Rider a.l. on sunday should be just fine, as i understand it was more precautionary than anything.

The rider was pitted across from me.He was walking around Sunday afternoon.I think they said over 900 entry's! I was in those battles in the lightweight races. You can go from 1st to 7th in 2 turns we were that close!

I Finally got a chance to be able to run an entire Southeast season and this really made me feel good about Motorcycle club racing. Now the real key will be if everyone keeps going.

I know I enjoyed some great battles with some great riders in Thunderbike and I hope we can get some more of the old 749s out and about for some fun in thunderbike. All i am going to say is don't be afraid of the ASRA races. The more bikes that enter those races the farther back they pay money! I know the officials were a little overwhelmed and i think they reacted well with the time they had. Let's help them by pre-entering and giving them a better idea of what the weekends will have!

Great weekend, despite the near freezing temps in the AM! Personally I didn't do so well, I am not the fastest learner and I've only been to Roebling once, two years ago, and due to bike issues got maybe 10 laps. I didn't get to ride my stint in the TC, and with the lack of practice time....well, you know the rest. Love the layout, the new management seems much more laid back than last time I was there. I'm looking forward to CCS getting out of the 80's technology wise, should speed up some of the lines / entry issues. Staff is clearly working hard to run things smoothly. Overall it was a fun event and I'm glad we had a good turnout.

I have to say, I'm impressed with the talent I saw in the LW classes. Seems like everyone brought their "A" game. I took a shellacking like I haven't had in years....you guys were on the gas for sure! My hat is off to you.

First time at RRR. We had a blast! Did TC for the first time and did ok for a couple guys who really didn't know what was going on! Seems if you crash....soft sand tends to destroy bikes, but as Greg said not crashing helps. My biggest gripe was registration....it really was a mess. I know the staff does the best they can and hope they can streamline it somehow. It was awesome to get away from Wisconsin for a few days and enjoy warm weather and some racing.

i agree on the registration window deal.. although it's great we had the chance to do it friday night, taking over 2 hours to do it is kinda crazy. Another window or 2 open woulda been awesome. Is that possible Keven ? Eric ?

The friday night thing was a total surprise, I would have planned to get there early specifically for that if I had known. It was crazy how long it took, I showed up towards the tail end but I'm guessing the issue was the licenses and the first race of the season for most guys. I was in and out of that window in less than a minute?
