Update received from the MARRC Chaplains Tom and Carol Moyer this morning:-

"Scott came through surgery well yesterday, but he was broke up pretty good. He has multiple breaks in his right femur, a broken knee cap, multiple breaks in his right arm, three broken ribs, and had a partially deflated lung. He has been loaded up with titanium (to match the hardware in his other leg, believe it or not) and is looking forward to racing more. His Mom, Dad, and fiancee were all watching over him last night, along with a bevy of friends that trooped through. He's in good hands. There was no word as of last night as to how long he'll have to stay in Fairfax Hospital."

Good to hear.  He was right in front of me when he stood the bike up and ran off.

Scott is a good friend of mine and teammate for the season.

I've been hanging out with him at the hospital.  He's in good spirits, and was just moved from ICU recovery to a normal room.   I want to thank Tom and Carol for going to visit with him, and to everyone at the track who has asked about him and send prayers his way.   In case anyone was wondering what happened, he went to downshift late into T3 and the clutch locked up, sending him into a highside where the bike actually stood up and skipped across the gravel trap at full speed.  With the wheels off the ground, as soon as the the front wheel of the bike came down it shot the bike over it's front end into the wall.   He just happened to hit the wall right before the bike did, and then the bike landed on top of him.

Scott was wearing an airbag vest, which was fully inflated throughout the whole process.   The medics said his neck was stabilized and we are thankful he was wearing a vest, which may have saved him from further injuries.   On another note, I believe that CCS will be looking into placing airfence along that corner now.   Anyone who wants to donate can and should to RRW Action Fund.

I want to thank Terry Reese for his quick reaction to assist the medics deflating the airbag vest so they could begin to work on him, all of the cornerworkers who were so professional in keeping everyone away from the scene, all of the medics who did what they needed to do in order to stabilize him trackside, and all of the racers who patiently stood by while the schedule was disrupted, and everyone who has asked about his condition.

He's got a long road to recovery, but wants to know if his bike will be back together in time for VIR lol.

That's a true racer right there, still in the hospital and joking about his bike being ready. Hope to see him out on the track again.

Scott left the hospital yesterday, and is at home recovering.  He had to take a lap around the wing of the hospital in the wheelchair before they would let him leave, to be sure he could do it on his own.   With only one side of his body to use and still pretty broke up, it was slow going, but when he got back he wanted to know what his lap time was!
