So I have some damaged bodywork. After my lowside it tore the holes where one would normally secure the upper to the lower. All damage is on the right side where the upper attaches to the lower contained within about a 6" dia. The upper is attached to the fairing stay via bolts. The left side lower is attached to the upper via DZUS. The right side lower is attached to upper via zip ties. Zip ties are used at all other attachment points. The bodywork is very secure and does not move around with this setup. I have ran 4 trackdays with it like this with zero issues.
My question is if this will pass tech? I am not clear on the rules and my first race will be this upcoming weekend at Summit, so will need to repair them asap if yall dont think it will pass. Thanks.
From your description I think you will be fine. In my experience as long as nothing is flapping or hanging off you will be fine. I have used duct taped and ziptied bodywork many times lol.
I have a picture of an S.V. at Daytona from a few years ago, it was like a cartoon bike, literaly every piece of the thing was taped, stitched, glued, bent, scratched, dented, broken, welded, fiberglass repaired, bondo, etc, Frankenstien.
I think it was at at last year's ROC, I'd bet you have no problem unless you get "that" inspector.
good to know. Thanks guys! I attempted some homebrew fiberglass work so I should be good. But damn if it isnt the ugliest thing Ive ever seen. haha
