Title: Spectator: how to get in hot pit at VIR
Post by: RacerGuy1962 on September 06, 2012, 10:09:57 PM
Hey everyone,

Took a few years off racing to go back to college and saving up for my daughter.  Hope to be back in a year or two, but in the mean time coming out to races when I can to watch.  Last year we came to the CCS race at VIR, my wife had never been to a race and I think the absolutely best way to get a sense of the speeds we all do is to stand at VIR North course's front straight kink in front of the flag stand and watch the bikes go by at top speed 5 feet from your face.

So I'm wondering, if we are just coming as spectators, what do we need to do to be able to walk across the hot pit to watch for a few minutes standing on the front straight flag stand just like racers and crew are able to do?  We tried to last year but got a lot of run around before we said forget it, but I really want her to get a up close look at the bikes flying by.

Thanks!

We you drive up to the gate shack, tell them you want Crew passes (not spectator).  Prices are usually the same either way, but you'll have no problem getting into the paddock as a Crew Member.

Thanks TrophyGal, mind if I drop your name if needed to get crew passes?  I'm happy to help out in the paddock however I can if needed.
