Title: Leaving Bike at NJMP overnight?
Post by: burniepd on July 09, 2012, 06:43:06 PM
Want to ask how many have left your bike outside under a canopy night.  I have heard some stories about bikes being stolen or messed with so not sure if i should leave it at the track Friday night or in the back of my truck at the hotel.

Any suggestions?   Drop at the track Friday night or keep locked to truck at hotel?

Thanks for your input.

I wouldn't worry about dropping your bike off the night before, lots of people do this. Maybe grab your pit neighbor and ask them to keep an eye out.
Also make sure your canopy is weighed down good or it might not be there when you come back.(wind)

I would say there's a slim chance of the bikes being stolen, but tire warmers, generators, pedalbikes, tools, power cords, tires ect.  These items seem to be more lucrative to theifs than motorcycles.  Lock those things up for sure.

thanks for the input guys. i plan on just leaving the bike and keeping the rest locked in my truck.

Anybody think the new Fan Pass idea will make the place safer?

I left my bike and a bunch of tools out at BHF (my home track) when WERA came through there a few weeks ago and had something strange happen. I found a candy wrapper in my intake, my shock setting were turned all the way out and my steering damper was turned all the way out. Nothing was stolen or missing and I have no idea what happened or who but I would advise to be carefull. Shoulda known when all the WERA guys packed up all their stuff.

Sounds like you need a nasty ass pitbull tied up in you're pit. That would keep unwanted fingers off you're bike
