Title: No Mid-West Awards Banquet?
Post by: gixxer188 on January 04, 2012, 09:38:46 PM
I don't see one on the CCS website calendar so I guess there isn't going to be one this year for last season?

It is the planning, Packers in the playoffs has effected location and date availability.

Can we have it at a venue where everyone can sit in the same area and hear?

Boy, aren't you a trouble maker.

P.s. The last year I went, one of our group sat at a "stack of boxes". Moral of the story, the Banquet fee can not buy you dignity (or necessarily a table) .

We could always have it at Lake Delavan Resort again. I'm sure they would welcome us back! :kicknuts:

It's never my intent, but the last few weeks, I seem to making things really hard on myself.  It was good to see friends in the off season at last years banquet.  But being my first banquet, I couldn't really enjoy the event for what it was.  Up where we were sitting we couldn't see nor hear the speeches.  I've got a good relation at a venue in the Chicago burbs we use for other events.  If we wanted to do an event from about 3:00 PM -7:00 or 8:00 PM, it would work well.  As the evening gets later, the place opens up to the public and live bands.  We're always welcome to stay, but speeches and privacy would be pretty minimal after that time. Call me if we'd like to look into it.

According to "the boss" .. Mid-West bqt will probably be end-of-February or first-of-March.  Several of the key MW CCS Staff members will be back north by then.

Soooo, 4-5 weeks before the season starts in the Mid West?  Sounds about par.  Hey, at least it's better than the mailers we get after the due date.

To put it mildly. :banghead:  I think GB would had been better off letting the local HS team play for them.

I don't think you can call holding an empty Chouffe bottle to your ear a reliable soure. :-)

So are you saying that holding a full Chouffe bottle to your ear would be more reliable?

Nah, just jokin that Johnny gets voices in his head and hears things like when people hold a sea shell to their ear to hear the ocean.

Sorry, it was funny in my head.

Believe it or not. I actually heard from the Mother In-law that the new owners of Lake Lawn contacted her to let us know that they were open to the public again and that if we needed anything to let them know. We actually went to one of the LL bars the other night for a "Kings Highway" New Years Eve gig...

I think if certain individuals can leave the vegetation where it sits, The rooms "Not Redecorated" and the piles of beer cans to a minimum. Ohh - Forgot moving the "After Hours Party" from room to room out on the balcony.... Ah - The good Ole' days...

I think they'd have us back...

Can't we just have it at Doc Purk's place?  He'd pass out after a few, ok, probably more than that, he'd have a few lines like, "I'm a dentist."  Then the redecoration can begin.

Bumping to the top.  Hoping we get this information soon.  I know we're required to notify them if we are attending.  There are people that are waiting on the location to decide if they are making the trip or to book lodging.

Unfortunatley we thought we had eveything confirmed and were ready to announce a week or so ago but we have not recieved the actual event contract. This is something we hope to have had finalized long ago and is at the top of the list of things to be done this week.
