Title: ULSB lap times at NJMP
Post by: roma258 on December 26, 2011, 04:05:24 PM
Hey all, new here, new to racing in general. I've been doing track days at NJMP and would like to give the racing thing a try. My current track day bike is a Honda Hawk GT, which falls into the ULSB class. So I'm looking to see what kind of times people run in that class (couldn't find anything on the CCS website) to bench mark my lap times and see what it would take to be competitive. Thanks and look forward to getting out there next year.

Don't worry about times. Just come out and have fun. The rest will take care of itself.

i know it's nice to know, but unfortunately the myracingbio.com site is dead.  but, it's also hard to answer your question b/c the times range as much as the varied skill levels of the riders in the glass.  just jump in there and race your race and have a good time.  if you're lucky, there will be others running about your pace, be in super-fast or not-so-super-fast.  Either way, you're gonna have a blast, be it for a podium spot or for 12th place!  guaranteed!

Thanks for the responses everyone. Gonna do the racing school some time this spring hopefully and target the July 15th date at NJMP for my first race. Can't wait!

Try to come out in May! It's a double point weekend so there should be a good turnout.

Times really run the whole gauntlet so don't get caught up in them, and you get faster from chasing faster people... It's not the same at a track day, at least for me.  TImes drop pretty quickly the more you get out there.

times will be 1:32 all the way up to very high 1:50's for the freshest novices.

Also depending on what's done you'll be eligible for more classes too w. a hawk.  LWSB, supersport, thunderbike, GTL, Ultalight...

I have a fox shock, f3 upper tubes and internals, F2 front wheel (wider than stock) and Braking Wave rotors. Sounds like these mods would knock me out of supersport, right?

i think the wheel might knock you out of superstock.  the rotors might be ok if they are the same size as stock.

but, don't take my word for it.  it's all in the rulebook here >>> http://ccsracing.us/forms/2011/rules/2011%20asra-ccs%20rulebook.pdf (http://ccsracing.us/forms/2011/rules/2011%20asra-ccs%20rulebook.pdf)

In supersport you need stock oem wheels and forks that came with the bike, superbike it doesnt matter.
Lap times can be 1:32-1:35 for top experts  and amature sometimes there some fast ones out there that do the same times. Most amatures do 1:35-1:45
