Just curious how many racers out there use a shift light, if they like it, and why or why not. Also, which one is the best and what about the one that mounts on your helmet like the Go-Karters use? TIA
I use the datatool revlight because that's all I could afford for gauges to start with. I found that an old gixxer 1100 tach will wire right up, though, so that's coming next.
I have never seen anyone use the things myself, seems like just another distraction you dont really need. ::)
Though I don't have one...
I would like to get one, as I am sick of bouncing off the rev limiter when I am thinking about some other issue at hand.
Heck, I know a couple people who don't even have tachometers, let alone shift lights. ;D
i'm not an expert ... but i did used to race carts
and some of us used shift lights for one reason only,
noise. it was hard to hear the motor when you were
in a pack of wild 2strokers reving to 12/13,000 rpm.
and those little shift carts reved like turbo's so the
lights were helpful ....remember, no rev limiters on
those motors. either you had a light or a tach and
sometimes both. oh yeah, and don't forget the
right elbow pad, i broke my elbow twice on the factory
motor mounts....missing shifts. i know it's kinda off
the subject but,oh , the memories.
Benj. ;D :o ::)
oh, to the subject at hand...i don't use one(light) on the bike ...(rev limiter)...and i can feel the 4 stroke's
power band alot more than the 2 strokers. so the
4 stroke motors tend to lose power before the rev limiter anywho. but what do i know.. i just ride the
darn things.
