Title: Crash at HPT
Post by: YellowGuy on May 12, 2011, 12:38:41 PM
Hey everyone, got some video of a crash from Heartland Park Topeka from my bike thought I would share.  If you're curious, Jesse is fine.  He came back the next two races to beat me later that weekend.  Enjoy 8)

Yeah, by the time I tried to look for you I think you were already gone.  It was good to see you.  Right now the plan is to go to BHF in July.  Trying to find someone to ride up there with though.  Jimmy isn't sure if he can get work off yet.  If I have to I'll go bymyself, but my truck tops out at about 55 mph with my trailer on it.  I'll figure something out though.  see ya then.

Meghan said that a few years back when you let her borrow your truck to run into KC to pick up RV parts. She said that it was a little on the tired side trying to make hills and so on... Would love to see you out at the Hawk Joe...

Shock is back together by the way....

Yes I know that my ranger is a little tired, but it gets the job done.  She a '97 Ranger with 140,000 miles on her now.  Its only got a 2.4 L, 4 cyl motor in it, thats why it strugles with my trailer so much.  Its either buy a new truck or keep racing. . . . I choose racing.  I figure by the time I get the trailer all loaded up it weighs somewhere between 1000 and 1500 lbs (probably a little much for a 2.4 L).  My biggest enemy though is the heighth on that thing.  Damb thing acts like a giant sail behind my truck.  But don't worry, I take good care of my Ranger.  Just put new tires and shocks on her.  I keep waiting for the clutch to go out since its still on the original one, but hasn't happened yet.  If I can get that replaced, it would be ready for another 140,000 miles.  It may have been a rough ride, but at least it didn't have a bungee cord holding the belt tension for the fan to get me to Topeka.  :lmao: For those of you who don't know, thats why Scotty had to borrow my sweet ride to begin with, so he could fix his plush RV :)

I have a 96 with 215k and replaced the clutch 3,000 miles ago but only because the slave cylinder was leaking. Once it's apart you might as well do it. Anyway the clutch itself was in excellent shape and I'm sure would have outlived the motor. I do the same thing with mine as you do with yours. A few times I've loaded a trailer with 2 bikes, generators, tools, gear, and the bed packed full. It's probably not good on  it but it does it.....as long as you don't come across any super steep hills.  ;)

Its not that bad....then again its not that great either. I won't complain. Its paid for and it gets me around. Fortunately I have a woman cause lord knows it wouldn't attract any new ones.

I bet a salvage yard would sell you the v6 for that truck cheap. It would bolt right in. I guess you would have to change the wiring harness and ecu also.

Might be cheaper to find a nice F150 with a nice 300I6...
