Title: CCS accident insurance??
Post by: crewnutz on July 21, 2010, 04:36:10 PM
I was involved in a wreck at NJMP on May 2 at the CCS race.  Wound up going to the hospital as I was coughing up some blood.  Anyways I got the remainder of my hospital bill today of what my insurance didnt cover.
I know WERA offers coverage to racers for what their insurance doesnt cover which varies depending on which track they were at..

Does CCS (or NJMP) have anything like this?

Hey Brandon,

Just out of curiousity, if you dont mind sharing that is, I was wondering what the charges looked like?  Did you go by ambulance from the track?

BC/BS or similar insurance is something every racer should not be without. Just count it as a race expense. Having $50k in bills is not unrealistic, the costs add up very fast. Having everything covered after you pay 20% of the first $5,000 is common, so being out of pocket $1,500 is not so devastating. A couple hundred a month is about all it should cost. I think if it is considered "professional racing" (as in a pro sanctioned event, and money that can actually be considered what your expected to live on) it is NOT covered. Most "club racers" (css, wera, and trackdays) would be covered.

Brandon Parrish is someone to contact and offers even pro racers insurance.
