Title: Supersport Legality of Aftermarket Triple Trees
Post by: murf99 on May 03, 2010, 09:38:03 PM
Greetings.

Section 6.1.2 - A states that OEM "wheels, brake calipers, forks, frame, engine, fuel induction system, and swingarm must be used."

Triples aren't forks or frame...  Therefore legal?

The way I've always seen it if it doesn't say it in the rulebook then its legal.
I've seen guys with aftermarket subframes in SS.

This is true for CCS, however it is the opposite for WERA...

That's actually been the position of CCS too.

If it hasn't specifically been noted as illegal, then it is legal to do.  Yes, previously in Supersport you could have ran magnesium upper tripples if you wanted.

Previously? They've never changed that, have they?

Well, I carried a CCS license from 1988 through 2009.  Didn't renew it.  I don't have a rule book to say what it is now.

And sometimes CCS rules are a little strange.  The fuel rules in 2001, 2002 or so as written made pump gas illegal.
