Hello everyone! I just wanted to share with all of you who I am and what I'm doing. My name is Nathan, and this coming fall I will be attending the University of Iowa to study film and cinema. And I didn't want to head off to film school without having anything to show that I'm serious about wanting to make movies. So I've finally decided to make the movie that I've been wanting to make but have just been too lazy to do it. So I'm making a documentary about one of my high school teachers, riding buddy and family friend who spends many of his weekends storming the tracks of the midwest on his Firebolt. It is a great privilege of mine to make this film on my good friend Ralph Longus, and I hope it does well to represent privateer racers everywhere.
To give people a taste of what I'm doing, and to show people that I'm really doing it I have edited a short preview for the film. I hope you guys enjoy.

Awesome...please let us know when the film's done...it's about time.!!
Thanks! I will be sure to keep you guys posted as the film comes along. I will be filming at Black Hawk Farms in May and at Road America in July if anyone was curious as to where we will be.
We'll be there!!
Good clarity, excellent stability, and the shifting images within the garage gave some good insight. I look forward to see what you do with the finished product when you've got the action footage to work with.
Excellent job man! I can't wait to see the finished project.
that's great maybe in a couple of years you can do a remake of silver dream racer. hey i like that movie.lol what kind of camera did you use ? i've looked at a couple of semi professional cameras but did not know if it was worth the extra money.my thought was to film races and then make them availabe . I always wanted a good film of me racing to critic
I use a Canon Vixia HFS100. It's a half consumer half professional hi-def camcorder. But so far it's been working fantastic for my documentary. While the adjustments for focus and aperture and shutter speeds aren't at the professional level, they are still there. Which is more than you usually get on consumer cameras. So if you want a good basic hi-def camera with the ability to make minor filing adjustments, you can't go wrong with this camera.
thanks Nate i took a film class way back when but now everything is digital which is good for us armatures . we take a lot of stills at the races we attend with cannon rebel xt and 200mm lens which is not enough but now that I'm semi retired i thought 2 video cameras would catch most of the action 3 would be great but don't know if i could swing that right off.
Nathan -
Thanks for doing this for us, I can't wait to see how it turns out!
Everyone can also follow along with Ralph, Troy, Mike and myself on our Team IFM Racing Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/IFM-Racing/279790549717
Can't wait!
When Nathan approached me about his project, I was shocked, humbled and flattered!
I'm really excited about being part of this and for others to learn about what's going on
with motorcycle club racing.
BTW, Nathan was a great student, is a pretty serious enthusiast and an all around good
guy. He'll do us all proud!
Hello everyone! Just thought I would give everyone an update on how the film is coming. Had an awesome weekend of filming at St. Louis Gateway with Ralph Longus. Only one race weekend left of filming and that will be at Road America over the 4th of July weekend. So if you see someone walking around with a round camera rig and head phones, thats probably me. I also put together one final preview before the finished product is ready, which should hopefully be some time late August. Hope you guys enjoy!

I have to admit I was a little surprised to see Nate's setup...... Kind of looked like he was walking around with a steering wheel out in front of him with a gray squirrel stuffed in the center of it!!! Good stuff Nate!
I like it.
Ralph is a good guy. Should be interesting
I just watched the videos... This is cool!! :thumb:

Lol thank you nate for the interesting look at the IFM and Ralph...also thank you for featuring 2010 RA video in which I'm mostly in front of Ralph 8-) lol
Ha, goes to show I had nothing to do with the editing!!
Nate's got a great eye, we'll be hearing about him in the near future!
I'm very flattered he did this about us but I hope all the CCS racers enjoy it as I think he's done an excellent job portraying our sport.
Very Cool
Thanks for sharing
We @ Team Chouffe tried to document a race weekend but the camera guy got to drunk and the sound guy woke in the wrong hotel.
Was there at least a smile on his face eddy?....I mean wrong hotel room could be...interesting...in some respects (smirk)
That was good .
