Title: 2002 Yzf R-1 improved?
Post by: Brian G. Howard on May 11, 2002, 01:52:54 AM
Is anyone currently racing a 2002 R-1?  I know the frame is different, but do you still have to jack up the rear to the sky to get good turn-in?

See, all you have to do is get one of those R7 frames, and shoehorn in the R1 engine...oh wait that would be cheating  :o

Cheaters never prosper.....except in the AMA!

Actually yes the new chassis is much improved over previous models. I have owned the '01 and now the '02 and handling wise there is no comparision. There was a write up from max at traxxion dynamics and he stated with a fork rework and rear shock bike was awesome. Also made the comment that as far as the chassis was concerned it was one of the most improved and best he has ever seen. You ain't cheatin if the racing org says that you can run it! Seems that the Suzuki and Honda guys are the only ones that say they are cheatin. Oh well I guess they are just tired of lookin at Buckmasters backside!

Bwaaah!!!  ;D

First, the question was the R1 and thank you for your input on how the handling has improved.  Being in the market for a new bike I appreciate your opinion.

Now, on to the fun stuff.... :D

Who else is there in F Extreme other than Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki? LOL

That's the thing, AMA racing rules state that you CANNOT run an R7 frame, they are just too politically entrenched to enforce the rule.

The whole world knows Buckmaster is cheating...its OK though since under the same lack of rules Honda has decided for next year to run Rossi's current RCV's, and the Suzuki's will be GSV-R's.  :o
