For all of you who know him, one of our CCS Chaplains, Art Lohman had a heart attack yesterday.
He is currently in the hospital recovering and seems to be doing well. He will undergo testing to find the extent of the damage.
Please keep him and his family in your prayers. He is a young guy with three young children.
man he's like my age, is he at halifax?
He's at the new Florida Memorial Hospital in Ormond. Seems to be in good spirits, but when I saw him this morning he said he's still not sure what's going on yet.
So the guys from Daytona sportbikes throw a surprise birthday party for me. I'm at the party, and a bunch of us are excited because we just formed a Daytonasportbikes TC team to run with CCS at Daytona this Feb, when son of a gun, I actually had a heart attack! Things got pretty sketchy for the rest of the night, nitro patch and a bunch of meds to stabilize things, and Doc said it was a pretty close call. But my eyes opened this morning and I'm very happy bout that! Scheduled for surgery on Monday, till then I'm hangin out at the Florida Memorial Hospital in Ormond Beach. A brush with the end of physical life was not pleasant, and it really made me put my money where my mouth has been, but as we waited in the ER while the Doc said the ol ticker was still trying to have another attack, I wasnt scared. Without faith in God, I dont know how I could have stood on that precipice. It's been an honor to race with all of you and I'll see ya in Feb, thanks for the prayers and support.

Now that's a surprise Birthday party if I ever heard of one! I've been with two close friends as they've gone through bypass and stent surgeries. As sobering as that ordeal is, they're healthier now than ever. My prayers for a fully favorable result from your surgery as well. Thanks for the guidance and strength you have provided to others in that region through your activities. God bless and keep us posted.
Prayer Warriors come together and send up many prayers for our brother Art! He still has much work to do in his street ministry and children to raise. We love you Art and will be praying hard and often!
2old & family
Praying for good things for you Art! :thumb:
Wow that's scarry. I'm glad to read that you are out of danger. Come back really gradually - don't rush things. Were there any warning? High cholesterol or anything else?
Take Care!
Get better soon Art!
God bless you, Art. My family's prayers are with you.
best wishes ART! see you at the TC.

WOW!
Glad to hear things have gone well.
Does this mean that parties are more dangerous than racing?
get well soon Art!
I will send some family to see you that lives near by. if you need anything I will have them bring it.
I'll take a Summit T10 wad any day over the pump failure. Apparently it's mostly genetic, combined with some stress from the ol police job I'm sure. As far as warning signs, I started havin some tightening in the chest a couple weeks before, but like the typical stubborn male, I dismissed it and went on business as usual. And now they got me wearing a blue polka dot hospital dress with green grippy socks...This is so uncool.

Get well dude.

Art, get better soon man!!! Bob is supposed to be getting me your room number so I can call, but who knows if that will actually happen. You can't use this as an excuse not to race, and don't think for a second that I'm going to feel bad for you and let you off the hook for "decorating" my bike!
Get well soon Art! Prayers coming your way from N.VA!!
The family and i will be praying for you Art. :thumb:
Only know you from the boards, but thats enough to know that you are a solid guy. I wish you a healthy and heart attack free future Art, get better soon.
With that being said you need to figure out a different way to be the center of attention at a party.
I will keep you in my prayers Art, get well soon!
Get back quick Art.
I'm a firm believer in the stress factor.

Hey Art, prayers for your surgery and get well soon! We need your humor and quirkiness!
Wow! Get well soon! What a way to begin the new year!
Art, please take it easy and get better soon!
Best advice I can offer to anyone headed to the hospital...SHAVE!!! I dont think there is one patch of fur left intact on my body, and I have no idea what type of tape they use, but it puts zip ties n Gorilla glue to shame! Thanks everyone for all the support, it meant the world to me while I was hangin out at the hospital these past days. Docs went in today, man those operating rooms are cold! Turns out I got a somewhat rare condition, (how lovely), where the coronary arteries spasm and shut off blood flow to the heart, which in turn, kicks in the ol heart attack. Kinda weird though, it usually strikes during periods of rest, and can be triggered by cold temps. We got the meds that will control it and I'm just kickin back now recovering from the knife. Much thanks, the friendships we share as roadracers are truly treasures.
Art,
I am sooooooooo glad to hear you did well . I prayed for you a bunch today. Now heal up and rest up and feel better!

Glad to hear you're recovering well. I still remember your kindness and humor when my wife, son and I were pitted near you and your friends at Barber a few years ago.
