I was thinking of trying to see them on this tour since ive always enjoyed their music but after reading this I think I will pass. That behavior is out of line.
They started sucking a$$ the day they made their second record. They SUCK. ;)
Each has a right to their freedom of speech...
And I for one am happy that people are voicing their "feelings" about this war in Iraq. That way I can remember it and vow to never buy anything that they put out...since they only "support the troops"...
I guess they support torture and murdering... What a moron.

Is it possible for people to understand that one can be anti-(this)war(the way it is now) and NOT BE pro-saddam?
I am not a peace lover, I just think the war should have been handled differently. It is done un-timely and un-wisely.
I feel sad that our troops are dying overseas for a cause that is not really appreciated by a lot of people.
If the war is to protect our interests, then tell Bush to stop saying "liberating Iraq" because the Iraqi people DO NOT want to be liberated by Americans. They don't like Saddam, but they also don't want to be liberated by non-arabs. And why are our troops dying for Iraqis anyway?
If it is for our interests, then people should be able to disagree whether the cost is too high. at the risk of saying so, we may get rid of an evil region, but we also piss off the rest of the arab world and just created many more terrorists.
When did Iraqis started being suicide bombers? This doesn't look good, that people are trying to kill our troops instead of Iraqi authorities. Don't you just see that this is going to go on even after we won the war. It does seem like the Iraqi people really welcome our "liberation"
R6, They hate us. They will always hate us. The French opposed it and they still found risen (sp) readied for deployment there. To wait any longer would have had the same effect as waiting to see if Hitler would be happy after Poland. Do you realize casualties in WW2 were in the millions!UNIMAGINABLE! It was only a matter of time before we could expect to have poison gas in the subway or small pox in the airport. It had to be done and no Arab had the military power to stop the Psycotic Hussain family. The main reason people are anti-war is of the possibility it could be oil related. Which it is not. Almost nobody marched about Afganistan. Why? Nothing there. Why did we go there? Because Americans will eventually stand up and not take it anymore. Once every other country and every other person on the planet sees that screwing with American civilians will bring very bad results, they will still hate us, but they won't kill us and a free world will be much closer.
By the way, I personally am a couple steps short of the view of Timothy McVay as far as views on the Federal Government. I still belive they could do away with most of it. But at this point I'm happy I paid my taxes. It is finally going to something worthwhile.
God bless our lost troops.
UH OH, I'm going off again. I will not post-I will not post-I will not post.
Somebody kick Eddie Vedder in the nads for me. ::)
I want to buy you a drink. I have a different reason to add to the support of this battle and are troops. I was over their in '91. I just hope we finish it this time. >:(

I guess people automatically presume that I am of the "anti-war" crowd because I am anti-this-way.
My frustration comes from half century of US foreign policy that created a lot of villans and didn't quite get the job done. I don't agree with how things are handled this time either.
However I do not believe our troops are there because of oil. I do not believe that Saddam should remain in power. I just skeptical how everything will turn out. We supported him back then so he can stand up to Iran and provide some stability in the region opposing the soviet union... Now that he is gone, I wonder the rest of the arab world can be kept in place instead of trying to come and take Iraq's wealth (like Turkey is trying to do)
Anyway I just see to keep this war and the post war project a success, we would have to provide a force, a presence and a lot of support over there for the next 5-10 years. I see a lot of terrorism against our troops, our citizens, and we spending a lot of money and effort to keep Iraq working. All this will make the Arab world just hate us that much more, beacuse their wicked believe that US and Israel is going to slaughter them all... There is a reason they are calling us the "Crusaders" again (well doesn't help that Bush used the word "crusade).
I guess I just don't agree that fighting this war will cut down on the terrorism. Maybe less WMD, but more suicide bombers and the alike. And if Saddam, or his son escapes, or if some fundamentalist that is loyal to him escapes, and buy a nuke from North Korea? then we would have an even bigger problem. What if North Korea think they are next on our agenda for war, and sell/give/let some arab group have a warhead?
I am anti-this-war because I don't just see the extremist arabs taking this one sitting down, they have all the more reason to attack us now. If we had UN support, it wouldn't have looked this bad... And saying we are "liberating" Iraq really is a bad idea. It sounds good to american public, but BAD BAD BAD to the arabs.
I support our troops, I feel for every loss and really wish it didn't have to be this way. I question our administration, but I agree, as most people in this country, that evil should be dealt with and removed from this world. I just differ on how to go about doing it. No peace loving hippie here.
You've got some very valid reasoning and yes Turkey is looking a little suspect. But the option was what? Wait till they do set off a nuke to do something and start a full scale nuke war? No thanks.
Hey, I don't pretend to understand the logic they use over there. To be proud their kid commited suicide seems absolutly nuts to me. To step in and stop the government from encouraging stuff like that and supplying them with the tools, should keep the extremists underfunded and in their local area anyway. Hopefully before they get ahold of nukes. We know darn well once they got them they would light em somewhere.
It looks as though it's about over anyway, so we'll see how it all pans out.
I'm hoping to make VIR, so stop by. I'll keep 6 in the cooler. But after 2, NO POLITICS! (I'm an idiot sober so be gentle after a couple) ;D
I THOUGHT THIS THREAD WAS ABOUT PEARL JAM!!
Can we get a seperate politics/religion section on this board like WERA has?
OK Pearl Jam sucks. I'm done :)

Iraqi's started being suicide bombers when pro-Saddam people started taking family members off by gun point and telling the remaining family members (including prenant women) do drive through check points or their family members will die.
Is that worth fighting for?
Do the Iraqi's really want that to continue? Morally, should it be allowed?
If this is untimely (too soon?) and unwise (how so?), how would you do it differently?
As for people appreciating this, most people don't appreciate the freedoms that we as citizens have in the US. The world may bag on us, but we built the world with our industrial and financial might. And that was done through the dedication of the American work force. I guess what haven't we built? We help Russia and China...

Looks like some Iraqi's are pretty darn happy to have us.
Looks like they are actually protesting in the streets. They couldn't do that before, now could they. I guess that might be the new republic in action, eh?
Terrorists camps found IN Iraq.
Syria is now going to expell all Iraqi diplomats rather than harbor them.
North Korea has backed down.
Did you read about or see the bones of the people that were murdered by Saddam's Regime?
Did you see the people pull down the statue of Saddam?
Did you see people use their shoes to hit pictures of Saddam? That's big... Dirt is under your shoes... They are hitting Saddam with their shoes.
Doubt that would have happened without our help or our fortitude.
Now France wants to help...
To them... nothing lost, nothing gained. Leave proper action in world affairs to those who have the fortitude to actual act. France can go lick the hand that they fed, Saddam, and the money that France lost when Saddam's people were taken out.
