Title: Thanks CCS race officials at New Jersey this past weekend
Post by: plasticweld on July 27, 2009, 07:11:24 AM

A true test of how well a group functions is when everything goes wrong, this past weekend at the New Jersey Motor Sports Park, our race officials did some serious hair pulling and swearing to try and over come some of the many short coming of that track. Thanks for all your hard work and perseverance so could race and still have a good weekend we all owe you a beer...Bob

Definitely more than the CCS staff or the racer should have to deal with. What a mess. NJMP sure has a way of showing their customers appreciation for their business......

I talked to a number of NJMP officials this weekend, and they all told me that motorcycle events are outnumbering car events by a pretty wide margin. They are going to have no choice but to start showing us some respect. Right now, they clearly are not.
My personal favorite was that Bbq on Saturday night. We were invited to come on over and load up on all you can eat Bbq for $10. After paying $10, getting food, and sitting down to eat, we were berated by some fat fuck for "freeloading" at their $25 a ticket Bbq.  :err: If it was $25 why were we charged $10?

They need more crash trucks.  It kinda sucked that I had to push my bike all the way across the paddock after I ate shit.

Yeah, just a little swollen, sore, and stiff this morning.  I've got some rash on my shoulder, that is prob the worst part.  I haven't looked at the bike too hard, but from what I saw it doesn't look too bad.

It's kinda weird, my helmet doesn't look that bad, but I was knocked out for a second and my head is a little swollen on the left side.  My leathers are in pretty rough shape, it ripped the whole elbow panel open and somehow ripped the zipper open.  This guy that was taking pictures for Arnie got some shots of the crash though!   Can't wait to see them.

Lory,

Glad your good to go bro...  Don't worry with the photos...  Mine are always the same...

HEAD, FEET...  HEAD, FEET...  HEAD, FEET...

Of course there is usually some air in there somewhere.  Why is it always off the "Highside" for me..!!??   :whine:

NJMP needs to fix their electrical issues.  Sucks having to get NJMP officials to fix the breakers every 30 minutes or so.  One of the NJMP official told our group that we should pull our generators and run them for power.

Electricity was $35.

Showers were 3.5 miles away.

Good track, love the track.

Lory, where did the crash truck drop you off?  They should have taken you to your pit, since you were already loaded up on it.  I did send one 125 rider through a gate to push his bike back to the pit, but that's only because I could see he was terribly frustrated and it would have made him even more frustrated to have to wait until the end of the race for the truck.  He hadn't crashed and was just pissed off at the mechanical.  He was maybe 150 feet from his pit anyway.  They have one crash truck and Airfence Andy was also serving that function when he wasn't serving as control.

There were many things behind the scenes that I'm sure racers didn't see that makes me admire CCS even more.  They were pretty short staffed, since many of them live closer to the more southern tracks.  It seemed like everything was a fight to get done.

I don't think they realized how big even club racing events get to be.  I don't know if you guys realized, but there were a TON of spectators there, many more than we get at Summit.  We kind of overwhelmed them, I think.  I'm guessing that's why they were scheduling other events for the same place the same weekend.  I had to say it was absolute mayhem over in the tech/registration area Saturday evening with all the runners there.

Many thanks to YOU guys for keeping it a really clean weekend.  There were very few contact crashes and only one first lap pile up.  I think there was only one person who broke any bones, IIRC.  It was some pretty exciting racing to watch, and there were some pretty good battles out there.  Thanks for the understanding as CCS ironed out some of the wrinkles to make NJMP a better place for motorcycle roadracing.  Someone's gotta do it for the first time!

Thanks.  These will be my first crash pictures, fortunately it's not something I do too often.

Emily, when we pulled off the track I told them where I was pitted and they told me they didn't have time to take me over there.  They just dropped me and the bike off at tech.

Glad your ok Lory! Nothing worse then have a good mate down and you where running very fast all weekend. Even on the first lap of pratice when your knee puck came wizzing by my head at 130mph.  All in all it was a good time... I know you had a good time as well. I would ride it again. Loved the track once I figured it out.

It's just the way NJMP is.  Arrogant. But you have to put up with it to ride there.

Thanks guys, I did have a good time this weekend other than the crash.  I guess 1 crash a year isn't too bad, I just always seem to wad it up good when I do it.  That was the first time I had lost a puck, the leather and velcro doesn't seem to last as long as the puck material. :banghead:

Gotta give a major props to the officials at CCS. Didn't realize how tough they had it till I talked to a few of the them. Sorry the track management was being such a-holes about some stuff, hopefully when the numbers come in, they'll learn to respect race officials better. That place needs the money, lots of construction projects where put on hold at the facility.

I did have once incident on my last race where I got the meatball flag for two laps, came in, and found out it wasn't for me. No number was placed by the flag, so I assumed is was me (and I was along on the straight). I was a bit bit pissed, but it didn't ruin my first race weekend. Still had an awesome time.

And what was up with that charity run/event? Nice cause, but man, it was getting a bit crowded on Saturday evening. Funny how a bunch of pedestrians are allowed on the track, but not the CCS track officials.

Wait.  Left?  I found a right in 5 on Saturday.  I forgot to turn it into tech.  It's a V-shaped red one.
