Title: VIR Gearing ?
Post by: RADRB8 on May 28, 2009, 10:10:41 AM
I am going to VIR N for the 1st time on my 06 R6 next month and need some gearing info.

I ran1:37's last time I was there but not on a R6...

I currently have 16/47 gearing on it.

What changes do I need to make if any?

Tkanks in advance

you're going to hit the rev limiter on the straight as is. I'm 15/47 and just tap the rev limiter when i lean it over for the kink.. it still pulls out of the kink and i'm on an 07 r6 .. i'd say go back to stock in the front

Um, 16:47 is a faster gear set.....

So I may be good with my Summit setup...  :thumb:

I'll buy a 46 just in case...

Gearing difference between tracks is only 1 tooth on the rear if any change at all.  Your rpm in the turns may be more of a factor than the straight.  You don't want to be stuck between gears so to speak.  You just have to figure out what works best and keep a note of it.
