Hey i was wondering if someone could tell me what good gearing would be at black on a 06 GSXR 600?
Also i was wondering what some upgrades to a this bike would be to make it a little faster. It has a pipe and a power commander and thats about it. Let me know if you know of any little tricks to get some more horse power. Thanks.
A good starting point would be one down on the front and +2 on the rear.
I would worry to much about gaining more horse power.
It seems like you are just starting out, so focus you money and efforts on Suspension.
But thats just my opinion.

Ok thanks i was looking for some front and rear sprockets sizes. and ive been racing for three years now but am riding team challenge with another guy and were trying to figure out what gearing numbers we should have on and what can make the bike a little quicker. Thanks for the reply and hope you can help me with the front and rear sprocket sizes.
On the R6 stock gearing is 16-48. I ran 47 @ RA and thought it to be a little tall. I'm thinking 16 49-50 @ BHF. So stock front up 1 or 2 in rear. Don't know if that matches GXR

that's fine if you're an amature, if your an expert i'd run 15/49 on an R6
I heard 16/45 for BHF, or +2 from stock, will this work okay? It's what I used at HPT and I was at 16k in 6th just as I let off on the front straight.
Just off the top of my head here - Final Drive Ratio between different brands and even different years will be different due to a large number of things - One of which is the internal transmission ratio... So trying to decide what gearing to run on your Vespa - Based of what I run on my Zuma will be completely irrelevant.
Let's say we are both riding Vespa's - Your final drive gearing might be different then mine even tho we are both running the same lap times. If you carry more corner speed then I do - You will be able to run taller gearing... Different gearing will also change the way the bike feels - Not only in drive/power delivery and shift points - But also in the way the chassis sets in a corner and or how it feels on the brakes.... This is a little more involved the I would like to get on here - Chris we can talk about this in person.
By the way - It's Chris Quillman - Jason Quillman's long lost brother :)
For what it's worth - on my 09R6 I ran 15-46 at HPT - and 16-45 at Road A ( I think)........
But at least you can get an idea of what others are doing - Again comes down to what works for you and Karl as a team..... Endurance racing is about compromising.......
I ran an stock 110 hp 06 GSXR 600 for a year and 15/46 works almost everywhere. I never raced it at BHF with my GSXR, but I remember all my other bikes I ran the same gearing at MAM as I did at BHF and I ran 15/46 at MAM. That should give you a good starting point.
15/45 but I had more power than howlie. I also have a fatter ass!
Just so I have this right, 15/45? If I was redlined at HPT with 16/45 I can't imagine dropping one in the front, aren't the top speeds pretty close between the two tracks? I have a little more than stock motor but nothing crazy.
R1, Are you sure you were running 16/45 at HPT? I ran 15/46 at HPT and just barely hit the rev limitter at ALPHA 16 front is what comes stock. I ran 16/45 at Road America. If you have a built motor, I'd start with 15/45 at BHF. I pland on running 15/46 on my 08 R6 at BHF.
Weird. I ran 16/45 and redlined at HPT, then 17/45 and redlined at BIR with a tail wind. It has more power than stock but I'm using pump gas so it's well under 120 hp I'm sure. I'm going to try the 16/45 again since I don't have anything shorter, maybe I'll just use 5th on the straight.
It turns out that you were right and I had 15/45 at HPT. According to the dyno, this combo tops out at 140 mph. Does anyone know what top speed at BHF is on a 600? It seems like it would be about 140 but maybe it would be better to use 16/45 and just use 5th gear on the front straight.
